Sludgy, proggy, intense and one hell of a ride. I'm not surprised that Green Day is becoming more popular; their discography is too damn awesome to not be recognized.r

They've come back so strong. After nearly 4 years, Green Day has put out one of their most energetic songs yet. Bang Bang is told from the perspective of a mass shooter. This album will be great.

This is surely a fun album to listen to, with some great stand-out tracks. However, there are also a few points where the album stoops down to mediocrity. Overall, this is by no means a bad album, but isn't as good as it had the potential to be.

Revolution Radio is the best Green Day album since 21st Century Breakdown, but that's really not saying much. Most tracks here are typical "Dora listens to her first rock albums" that would have pleased 8 yo me, but it really ain't nothing special.

The mastering on this thing is god awful. But, saying that, this has some of their best material since their 2009 effort or hell at points even their 2004 project. Somewhere Now, Outlaws, the title track, and especially Bang Bang are highlights. But, it feels generally like Green Day by Numbers. Way better than the trilogy and whatever the hell Father of All is but far from their most conceptually interesting / most cohesive.

Green Day keeps it going with Revolution Radio, and yields some pleasant surprises along with a whole lot of predictability. The band still is able to create pleasant melodies, and Billie is one of the best hook writers ever, but his lyrics continue to drop off hard, while that used to be his strong suit, and to me, what set them apart from the pack. The instrumentals still sound mostly like their American Idiot-on era, and things honestly haven't changed all that much from their humble beginnings. There are a couple of songs that seem politically charged, but it really just seems to be the selling point. The album itself sounds like a band who has pretty much done everything, and are just having fun making stadium-ready music.

Correct me all you want in my mind it's "Revolutionary Radio" sometimes I criticize that
it's NOT called "Revolution Radio". Funny, huh? Anyway, this album continues the "Green
Day doesn't have great ALBUMS" tradition going, with this being the inverse of "Dookie"
where that had a pretty good selection of good songs and then some bad or unremarkable
songs. This has a lot of unremarkable stuff and then a handful of okay songs. I am
partial to "Still Breathing" and "Revolution Radio" tracks but only because of the
Andrew Stein and Nathan Sharp covers (respectivly).

As a longtime fan of the band, I think the album sucks. And I'm not even one of the purists who only likes the old records. I liked most of American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown. Revolution Radio is just not good. There's maybe 3 good songs - Bang Bang, the title track, and Troubled Times. The rest are sappy slow songs with some of the worst lyrics I've ever heard.
