Spoon on this record really cement themselves in making a great case to be put on the same tier as
The National in terms of top tier output over the past decade plus. You'll be hard pressed to find
a more consistent band that has delivered quality records, one after the other without repetition
or bastardizing their core sound.

Superb addition to a fantastic discography. Title track is one of the best of the year so rfar, "Do I Have to Talk You Into It," "First Caress," "Can I Sit Next to You," and "I Ain't rthe One" are all standouts. The galloping bass on "Shotgun" will lead to head-bobbing all rday. It feels like an progression of They Want My Soul with an relectronic overhaul.

Band has one of the most consistent discographies of recent years and the title track rules, so I have high hopes for this. Please don't let me down Spoon.rUpdate: They did not let me down.

Spoon go for more synth-driven compositions on Hot Thoughts, and while it works on certain tracks (just look at the streaming numbers), it doesn't manage to stay interesting during the whole record. The aesthetic is cool, songwriting is only cool on a handful of tunes.
