3.5 great | StrizzMatik | May 2nd 17 | Put simply, in.ter.ali.a is fucking excellent. Remember when
Refused tried to come back, failed hard and sort of sullied
their reputation? This is, thankfully, not that.
in.ter.ali.a implements elements of their entire career and
heavily calls back to ROC in overall sound (with a teensy
smidge of Omar's guitar freakouts and more melodic Cedric from
TMV, but this is definitely ATDI Cedric) and yet 17 years
later, it's amazing how IMMEDIATELY vital they are to rock
music still to this day. Omar and Cedric are truly on fire
the entire record, Keeley does such a great job here you
barely notice Jim's absence, and Paul & Tony are playing the
best they've ever played - if you ever wanted a truly worthy
follow up (dare I say, sequel) to ROC, here you go. Welcome
back boys.

4.0 excellent | hobblepot | April 26th 17 | The feelings leading up to this for me have been akin to me waiting to go into P.E, not knowing if the teacher is gonna pick a sport you can actually somewhat do with ease, or football, in which you flail around like a blind spider trying to catch flies in your goal. My expectations are going to be shattered either way this album goes, lets hope it smashes them in the "we're playing badminton today" kind of way. What the fuck am I talking about I hear you ask?

3.5 great | TheManMachine | August 12th 17 | I swear, OG groupies had exceedingly high expectations or forget what made em such a force in the first place or their eagerness for non-nostalgic rackety emo just isn't there anymore. Preferring the old stuff and construing this reunion as contrived or superfluous in this case is certainly just, but not really rightful as a default assessment. Their vim ain't as spirited and they kinda rest on doze laurels but doze laurels are still complex and cutting and catchy and refreshingly riotous, vox are extra gaudy and intelligibly obscured but still chock full-a color and emotional cogency and steadfast spitting compelling ambiguities -- at the very least they don't overstay their welcome. Guillotine claps and bagged snakes for all.

2.0 poor | marf1300 | June 11th 17 | Boring is not a word typically used to describe At the Drive-In, but it sums up this album. It is repetitive, flat, and forgettable. This was a tough listen.

0.0 | EvilEyez | May 17th 17 | The panic at the drive-in sound like the hyperventing cucks who want so bad to go back to the mars
travolta for the greater expermentation. Why go back to the drive-in when already cross the stars and to the
mars? Red planet sounds so far away, this is more like the dead planet and smells like the many rotted durrty lice
to me.
Bad (I know!)

3.0 good | Gene Gol-Jonsson CONTRIBUTOR | February 19th 24 | At the Drive-In's great return I remember was a sort of a "huh, what" moment in 2010s music, where its entire release cycle was half a lukewarm indifference and half actual excitement. That said, the album itself probably deserved that split in interest, as it saw the band reuniting more for quick reunion's sake than any artistic statement. The blistering energy is there, although mainly carried by Cedric's theatrical performance, but the songs often feel afterthoughts to the raw power with which the band intended to punch through the writing. A few genuinely riveting cuts aside, the album feels like At the Drive-In run-of-the-mill session: something one'd expect as a slump mid-career, but not as a supposedly fanfaring comeback.

3.5 great | REANIMATED | September 24th 22 | A mixture of RoC's clean but erratic sound, and the post-punk flourishes of Antemasque, inter alia is a strong comeback record with a surprising amount of charisma, even if it doesn't hit the creative and emotional heights of its predecessors.

3.4 great | Erwann S. STAFF | October 7th 19 | I don't really like Cedric's vocals, but apart from that, it's a fun release that doesn't really hinder the band's legacy. It sure is less good than RoC (incredible, eh), but it's not a bad record per se. I was particularly impressed by the passion and energy showcased here. However, this cannot go higher just because all you wish for is this to be RoC. This album is basically like if you think about your ex while having sex with your current gf.

4.0 excellent | JesusCage | July 2nd 17 | A great return album. If you were expecting that the band who helped change the game back in the
day would return after 17 years and change the game again, then prepare for disapointment. If you
are only looking for a new set of great post-hardcore tracks to enjoy, then you are in for a
treat. (3.9)

3.5 great | portableheadd | May 5th 17 | I wasn't too impressed by the singles so I was pleasantly surprised to discover this is really quite good. It actually sounds like At the Drive-In! Most surprisingly of all, it sounds like pre-Relationship of Command At the Drive-In. It's too early to tell the impact this album will have of ATDI's discography, but for now I'm just gonna enjoy the tunes.
