2.0 poor | Toondude | April 27th 17 | "'Madness is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting something to change.'
Apparently, All That Remains didn't get the memo."
Snide, considering you do the same thing with your music, I don't think you got it either

2.5 average | MuzikAddikt | April 29th 17 | I wish more tracks on the album were like the opening track Safe House. I'll give this album a few more listens over the
next few weeks and come back to update my rating and add more to my explanation.

3.5 great | thebestler062895 | December 15th 17 | Every song on this album is consistently great. Safe house is different because it has this serial killer vibe to it that makes you feel hunted/chased and your trying to hide. Madness is just epic listen to it and watch the music video you'll be head banging with you arms wide open dancing around your living room singing the lyrics lol. Nothing i can do is some sort of a love song and the passion in phils voice really connects to you because if you ever loved someone but they never loved you but no matter what you do they'll never feel the same for you. if i'm honest is just a nice ballad that will make your mood more cheery. Halo i like, because its just a real motivation lifter and so is the song louder they play back to back so after listening you'll feel like you can do anything. River city will make you cry its really sad. Open grave will make you feel like your liam neeson in a movie trying to redeem yourself from your past while fighting bad guys. Far from home is a good song its very happy and hopeful for those who have loved ones in the military. the last 3 songs are good too the only song i didn't care for was the thunder rolls its a cover of a country song and just feels like a missed opportunity because its like the original. SO YEAH this is a great album all the songs should be on the radio and i could actually let my mom listen to them plus all the songs are a good length and never overstay there welcome and all the songs can make you feel a certain way with the power and emotion in the lyrics.

2.0 poor | Xenorazr | May 1st 17 | I mean, it's sort of listenable, but where's the backbone? It's actually impressive how such a limp sound has managed to trek these guys forward this long.

3.0 good | inherentkev | August 30th 22 | Been revisiting albums I rated very poorly years ago. I originally gave this a 1 based off the fact that "oh its not metalcore anymore boohoo" but I've made my peace with this band not being metalcore anymore, and I happen to have a soft spot for shitty dad radio butt rock. Is this The Fall of Ideals? No way. It probably has 2 riffs, but it has great choruses and it's fun. Is it great even? No. But it's fine. Definitely more than a one.

1.0 awful | G0atC0re | February 16th 18 | If Nickelback went metal... They should have stopped after The Fall of Ideals. That was actually a good album.

2.0 poor | cjbizzlebizzle | June 26th 17 | A decade and quite a few LPs later, All That Remains find themselves completely distanced from the sound that was found on metalcore staples 'This Darkened Heart' and 'The Fall of Ideals'. Madness falls somewhere between alternative metal and melodic metalcore but fails trying to simultaneously come off as tough and approachable. The lyrics and song structure of all the tracks sound like they were written for the radio, to be anthems or for vocalist Phil Labonte to prove some point. Phil's lyrics continue to devolve over time perhaps hitting a new low in "Louder." To make things worse, the vocals are overproduced seemingly to make Phil sound even angrier and the bad choices don't stop there. Electronics are used quite a bit in a fashion similar to what one might expect from Linkin Park and it couldn't sound any more forced; these sounds are entirely needless. The album starts with Safe House, which is actually a fairly good ATR-style metalcore track (that being said, a gun click before the breakdown... seriously?) before running the gamut through generic alt-melodic metalcore jams and some ballads which unfortunately put even more focus on Mr. Labonte. The guitar work is solid with generally good rhythms and tasteful solos but this cannot overcome the work of their frontman, pointless electronic accents and generally bad production choices.

2.0 poor | terriblekonrad | June 7th 17 | Strange record. Hard to evaluate. Pros: pretty solid rhythm parts example "River City", average song writing, diverse album, better than their last album easily Cons: poor voice, cheesy lyrics, to long record, odd noises, production in couple songs example "Madness", "Safe House" Overall 4/10
