This is so very sadly a major step down from their last album. The concept is okay but broken. The music is more generic. The lyrics have lost the personal touches (I'd give an example but every song on their s/t was perfectly personal and genuine while only bits and pieces are here). It's still a good album better than a lot of radio rock and I still have faith they can bounce back after this, but TSWTO is no s/t for sure.

Appears some people found this more generic from their self-titled, but honestly its pretty on par with that record. Not much has changed, if anything they matured a little bit and have some restraint on some tracks and play it a little more mellow. Regardless, a solid hard rock effort with prog influences that stands above the stagnant crowd of radio rock.

The Stories We Tell Ourselves is kinda painful to listen to, personally. I say this as someone who absolutely loves their self-titled to pieces (with it being a 4.5-5 for me) and also loves The Few Not Fleeting (4-4.5). Stories isn't a "bad" album, but when I compare it to Nothing More's prior outings it falls flat on its face into a pit of spikes (exaggeration but). It has its moments, but, for the most part, it is lacking a lot of the the lyrical creativity, musical punch, and raw emotion of self-titled and Fleeting.

While it may not have what I like to call the "dirtier" sound of TFNF, Nothing More is rcarving a unique spot for themselves, despite some people claiming they sound more r"generic" now. What I love about Nothing More is there is a message behind every song. A rlot of these songs really get my blood boiling in the best way with the diverse rsoundscape they've provided. Also, while most bands' "filler" tracks are usually trash, rthis album's actually succeed at making the album feel more like a cohesive experience rand less of just a collection of songs.

Doesn't quite hit the highs that the band achieved on S/T or TFNF, but it's still a consistently solid album throughout. The closing track is great as usual.

To me, this sounds like an odd but effective mix of Karnivool and Fallout Boy, with a bunch of
electronic elements. Impressive hooks abound, and for the few album-oriented folks left, the
brief instrumentals bridge the gap nicely. I'm a huge fan of the dialed-down gain in songs like
'Go To War' - they're done an exceptional job with dynamics. There are a couple clunkers here,
but they're easily overlooked - this is a strong album. I don't think I'd label it progressive,
as others have, but it's well-crafted and enjoyable for any fan of heavy music.

The sentiment of keeping politics out of rock music is absurd. Life is politics. Truth is political. And the genesis of rock is deeply untwined with it. The landscape is littered with mediocre bands singing about less than this. I suggest you review bands like Nickleback in the future and stay in your comfort zone. Kritical is dead on with their review. Second those favorites as well.

Consistently good for what it is (alt rock with a dose of nu-metal flavor this time). But they had such a good sound on the S/T three years ago and this not only feels like a step backwards instrumentally but also in terms of maturity. Recommended Songs: Go To War, Ripping Me Apart

The first half of the record is filled with a number of head scratching callbacks to nu-metal, and the
inherent cheesiness of a genre that's been dead for over a decade leads to some comedic moments
when the record pushes an attempt to be "hardcore". As for the second half, it mellows out, but its
absent of an emotional edge that you got with a song like "God Went North" on their previous record,
so many of the songs just kind of happen. As a whole, consistency, solid songwriting amongst even
the album's more embarrassing moments, and a handful of genuinely good tracks save this record
from being awful - but never does the energy feel as concise and tightly packed as their previous two
records and there is a disturbing lack of songwriting moments that demand you listen to this again.
Ultimately, there really isn't a reason to bother with this record.

Has some good moments, and its all good pop music overall, and a fairly interesting kind. Actually different, as far as
generic music goes. But way more generic. Definitely has lost the personal touch and has gone for the accessible route.
Far inferior to their self-titled, but its a decent thing for kids to be listening to. Should definitely have dropped a lot of the
slow tracks from the album though. Do you Really Want It is a pretty cool radio song. Fade in/Fade Out is a solid, emotional,
but accessible track as well. Overall, not what I was hoping for, but not much respect lost. Hopefully next album is for the
band themselves instead of for a popularized message, but as far as popularized messages go, its good.
