To get to where I currently live, I have to walk down this street with two separate shops that play generic reggaeton at obnoxiously loud levels. Usually, this pisses me off as it momentarily stops me from enjoying what I have playing on my iPod. Today, it was a welcome distraction. The vast majority of this album sounds like a computer getting raped. And why, oh why does this need to be over an hour long? There's barely one iota of musical creativity to be found here and nearly every track abuses the same "readymade dance-party" beat. Shitty music for wannabe hipsters with terrible taste.

This was a very good album at the beginning but the ending tracks started to get less awesome. I didn't like the songs in which Alice screams which was also another reason to give them a 3.5. I do congratulate them though for producing "Untrust Us" and "Crimewave" though. They are one of my favorite electronica tracks. As an album though they did not show to have enough awesome left in them for after those two tracks and "Air War".

I realize that I'm going to lose a lot of indie points for this, but I'm too busy elegantly disheveling my hair to give a damn. Trailing on the bookends of the electrokidz craze of '07, Crystal Castles had just about everything going against them. If the gimmicky 8 bit gameboy samples didn't make this an album already marked for the bin of quick love, NME pretty much sounded the band's death knell by naming Alice Glass the coolest person of '08. And besides, nurave electro is sooo 2007. But I told you - I don't give a damn. There's more fun here than you'll find on a string of glowstick parties and more than enough surprises - from the manic "Xxzxcuzx Me" to the electropop of "Good Time" - to keep it interesting for a while to come.

this is the kind of stuff you listen to if you've got a 35 minute car drive to college in the morning, and you feel like dancing for 35 minutes. this is also the kind of music you couldn't have more fun dancing to by yourself, drunk, in your friend's basement for 2 hours, with the occasional visitor who engages in dancing as well. it's also great for popping in the car CD player with your friends if there's nothing new to listen to, ...god damn, this album will stay with me forever.
they've got the right idea, that's for sure. it's a perfect trance aura with sweet beats that come in at just the right times. hands down, i love it.
