I'm yet to find a metalcore album that will at least come close to kicking as much ass as Jane Doe.

I don't see what's so amazing about it. The vocals become too annoying to fast, that's the real problem with it.

Yeah, there is very little to say about this album apart from "it kicks ass". The most eloquent artistic observation I could surmise is that its song-writing reaches into shallowness, while its sound is surprisingly crisp and clear for a late-90s release.

This is an excellent metalcore album.It is far from being a disruptive musical monument like its contemporaries (TDEP's CI and Jane Doe) which I see it often compared to - questionably if you ask me. It does not have anywhere near as much of a unique personality as these classics, but it sure is well ahead of its time and sounds better than a lot of the metalcore from 2005 and up. 4.0

"0:12 Revolution in Just Listening" is incredible, being the album that helped shape the character of the Metallic Hardcore along with The Dillinger Escape Plan, and so many other bands from the late 90's. It features everything that is characteristic of both time of the release as of the genre that was still being developed. Later this concept lost himself and turned into the infamous Metalcore.

Sludge grooves that mathy metalcore brethren like Botch-n-Dillinger could barely be bothered with and a concise and immediate package they wouldn't let themselves surrender to. Ingram's hulk-man-perpetually-on-his-final-gasping-breath vox and particularly ponderous song titles remain distinct+defining through the resulting wave of imitator-adorers -- but perhaps most endearing here is their ability to stuff a whole hell of alot into a glitz-free sub 3-minute tune, and rather effortlessly at that. The most notable topics come first: right-off-the-bat Tour vs. Family disgruntlement of "What Happens On the Road Always Comes Home" and what may be one of earliest call-outs of anonymous online shit-talk, "Cowards.com", which befittingly glitches things up for the occasion. The experimental twiddling comes last.

This is pure, intelligent, and unapologetically aggressive badassery up the old wazoo. 0:12 Revolution in Just Listening has enough anger to traumatize a rhinoceros into submission, and the 1999 gunslinger of a revolutionary album is also chock full of enough replay value to shut up nearly all the TV marathons existing in such a cowardly domain. It's both safe and dangerous to say that Coalesce have unleashed a borderline perfect record here. Between Sean Ingram's callous vocal performance, James Dewees' consistently mighty drumming prowess, and the guitar work gradually becoming caressed by raging, amusing sociopaths as the band's third album nears its end, do you as the listener really know where to start with this?
