while X is only popular due to the popularity of soundcloud rappers these days, he shows innovation, giving reason for his "unfinished songs". Saying that they are unfinished because he feels that that is all the song should be and shouldn't be fattened with filler, while also varying his style from typical trap to a style that you definitely call "X's style"

22 minutes of underwritten, overly edgy material...I don't know if he thinks he is some sort of Shadow the Hedgehog or something but this is barely bearable

As someone who couldn't give two shits about X's music and had only heard "Look at Me!", I wasn't really sure what to expect from the XXL Freshman's debut record. And now that it's here...I'm surprised I enjoy it as much as I do. I don't think it's groundbreaking or god awful, but I do think it's a pretty solid debut. While I think X's image is overall cringeworthy, this album does a pretty good job at avoiding the cringe outside of the intro. And even in that intro, I hear a bit of honesty in X's voice that I kind of admire. And let me just say that bringing Shiloh Dynasty to sing on this record was probably the best move X made for this album - her voice is completely haunting and I can't get those melodies out of my head. As for the lyrical content, it's pretty much what you'd expect. It's like a solid 3.2. rBest Tracks: Jocelyn Flores, Everybody DiesrWorst Track: Fuck Love (It's alright but it sticks out like a sore thumb)

The album's underlying idea is brilliant: mix rap's most emotive spectrum with another sadboi genre, indie folk, and convey messages trying to help people overcome depression. The problem is it's not enough refined. Some tracks are cliche (that piano ballad), while others could have benefited from extended lengths (basically all the gud tracks). Damn shame he could never give this style a proper go.

Sometimes we have to learn to separate the artist from the human being. I am one of those people who hate some people because of their prejudiced and deplorable attitudes, but i can still separate when i listen to an artist or see a movie. I had this in mind when listening to XXXTENTACION for the first time. Despite being a despicable human being, it is plausible to admit that the guy knows how to make a few songs. But overall, his first LP is almost a disaster, except for some fun, even depressing songs. Conclusion: Avoid.
