Can someone please explain to toondude that longer tracklist =/= better music

yeah this is fantastic you guys are on crack. every moment of these 37 minutes are used really effectively and the balance between the heavier moments and the atmospheric, sombre moments handled so well. plus when these guys decide to be heavy on this album it feels so much more pulverizing on this album than it did on polaris. of their more straightforward, less progressive songwriting style, this is their greatest iteration of it. such a well written album that flows in such an enjoyable way.

Not bad after the first few listens, but the album feels a bit short, Orbital should've just
been the intro to Juno and The Arrow is way too brief. The production is amazing
as always, though, and the album version of Smile is miles better than the single version.
EDIT: Holy shit this thing has grown on me a lot over the past few listens, it has a much
better flow than Polaris and the songs are far more dynamic and very easy to get lost in.
Great example of progressive rock here in 2018.

Pretty disappointed in this to be honest. It lacks the epic moments that made Polaris so special for me. TesseracT maintain's their core sound though, and that alone is better than most artists. But at this point, they've taken the ambient djent about as far as it can go. Take those epic influences and evolve into something new rather than taking steps backwards as they did here.

Rating is 3.5 strictly because Luminary is an absolutely fantastic song. Album in a whole is a "fine" listen, but nothing is remotely as good as Luminary. I do like that the album doesn't overstay its welcome like their other three releases that plod along with plenty of filler do.

I tried with this album, but after several more spins, I couldn't really get into it anymore. "Orbital" and "Smile" are still the tracks I like, but the novelty of their sound seems to be lost. "Luminary" especially is the weakest song here.

My first experience with the sound of TesseracT was very interesting. "Sonder" is a beautiful work, without much emotion but with a clear creative delivery of all parts of the album. The band has always had great potential for what i read, and works like "Sonder" are helping to build an ideal scenario. We can expect a masterpiece in the future, why not?

Production here is their best - less sharp than on Polaris and deeper, punchier than on Altered State. Album is dense, much more than both predeccessors. Here and there are catchy vocal hooks and memorable compositional elements (though the slow riffs are not as diverse as one would expect). Ambience is on point, not seeing the reviewer's claim. The case of "evolve or die" is pretentiously forced - this is not fucking Breaking Benjamin, this is quality music, these are musicians developing their distinctive style but not overusing the formula. Altered State was overwritten and overproduced, it could be 1,5 times shorter and nothing would have been wrong (though I agree that compositional approach there song-wise was a bit more logical and consistent than here). Their debut, One, though, was lot more inspired. I'm not always feeling the lyrics here (especially in terms of how the words and phrases are put into the melody), the concept seems to be rather nominal. Anyways I'll keep digging, Sonder deserves to return to.

Some of the best of Tesseract, however it's puzzling why they decided not to do a full length LP. This feels like an EP, as you really only have 5 songs with some filler between. rIf Tess could have doubled down on this release and pushed it to Fall I think they would have seen better reception, and completed a dynamic and masterful record. Unfortunately, this album leaves me wanting more.
