4.0 excellent | YouAreMySilence | December 29th 08 | Johnny Truant trade in any sense of melody found in The Library of Horrific Events for even more pure anger. Although No Tears isn't as technical their previous releases it is louder, the lyricial concepts aren't as cliche and it is filled with more brutal and epic breakdowns, just listen to the end of the albums best track Death Rides, while the 7 minute long ambitious masterpiece The Weeping, Wailing, And Gnashing Of Teeth help create a thunderous, louder then life atmosphere.
Second only to Misery Signals in metalcore record of the year, Johnny Truant improve on their heavier aspects and create an absolute monster of a record.

Johnny Truant summon a beast from hell. No more obvious melody, and more importantly, no more songs that feel as if they were abondoned in the writing process. Johnny truant have found thier sound, and it sounds great. The album contains elelments from Reprocussions and Library of Horrific Events. I listened to album over and over again, and everytime, there's something suprising. No song sounds the same, nor are there any repitition. Stuart and Rueben's thrashing of strings are heavy, epic and atmospheric. The bass is almost seemless unless you're pounding it on a 1200 watt system with a giant subwoofer. And, Paul Jackson's drums are excellent as always, and keep you intriqued with the flow and sequencing of the songs. Olly Mitchell throws out his over use of high pitch screams and only use them at the most vital of bits, and conducts yet an interesting set of lyrics that appeals to every song as if it told one story.
If you loved thier previous work, this will impress you. The prouction and bass is the only set back, but not on an annoying or extreme level. Buy it.

4.0 excellent | RandMcNally | June 25th 08 | In my opinion this is a vast improvement on 'The Library of...' which is also a great album. This is brutally heavy and epic as well as musically and lyrically impressive.
However, the production is a pain in the arse, both the vocals (which are awesome) and the drums (also awesome) seem muted, as does the bass. Makes it seem frustatingly cruastrophobic, numbing the brutally a bit.
However, i think calling this generic is a very unfair. Its just let down by the production by Adam D i think, who is usually immense. Worth a buy i think if you like epic, heavy, metalcore, definatly worth a listen though.
