3.5 great | TheManMachine | September 9th 18 | A name like Pinkshinyultrablast sorta promises lustrous thrills and a sense of vacuity, and for better or worse methinks they attain that. Electronix are oft blissful busy and bouncy but seldom emit something extraordinary, Lyubov Soloveva's singin' is calmly celestial yet also stationary and aloof. So while track by track it may be a bit forgettable, the astral aura and adequate momentum and few highlights win me over on the whole -- one highlight being an opener that makes you wish they'd always try that hard, another being a closer that makes you wish they'd crunch more often.

2.0 poor | RadishSpirit | May 13th 18 | This album marks a progression even further toward the shimmering, synth-heavy nugaze that ultrablast has been leaning into since the release of "Everything Else Matters." Unfortunately, the songwriting on this record leaves much to be desired and the pretty soundscape is completely forgettable. In a tragic but foreseeable sequence of events, ultrablast has gotten progressively less interesting with each release.

2.0 poor | tyler | May 6th 18 | While the change in tone and style is appreciated for the most part, it only serves to highlight the gaping hole in songwriting their music has. The synth tones are nice and it's a very colorful album but absolutely none of it sticks. No reason to return to this, and there's really no reason to check it out in the first place. Big letdown.

3.5 great | meenwolf131 | May 6th 18 | combination of fuzzy shimmering dreamy shoegaze and sweet melodic synth works as ambient and texture that drive the atmosphere / interesting mixture but lack of dynamic impact or tight soundscape
