4.5 superb | GPooch21 | August 28th 18 | Most exciting hardcore band to come out in a while for me. This sounds like a bunch of hardcore kids who think Petitioning the Empty Sky is the best Converge album started a band with a singer who secretly worships EYEWTKAS-era Glassjaw and a guitarist who had a dad with a soul-patch that played his old MudVayne and Spineshank albums everyday on the way to dropping him off at school.

4.0 excellent | Jared Floryan | July 18th 18 | What Count Salty Balderdash from a certain outfit said about his main band's music sounding like it hurts applies to Vein much better. Coming straight outta Boston, this band's already made a name for themselves with their first album. Errorzone is 11 songs of unapologetic rawness that come off as being less dated and more modernized even taking into consideration the types of influences this band is pulling from - not to mention familiar, as well. Will Putney's production job doesn't really hinder the progress Vein make throughout, either, despite what gets thrown that man's way. The whole record oozes with charisma to go along with a real sense of sincerity on the bandmates' end that I simply find too likable to pass up. For those into early 2000s metalcore acts who've got overlap with the math-tinged side of things *and* for those of you still unafraid to jumpdafuckup in today's society, don't go sleeping on Errorzone. Strong 4.

3.5 great | Futures | May 17th 24 | have you ever wanted botch mixed with alternative metal, mosh parts and beefy production with a dash of nu metal? i didn't really either to be honest but this is pretty fun! the first half is all songs under two and half minutes that flow together into a giant beatdown, it's good but nothing too special or standout save for the occasional clean vocals to break up the monotony. the songwriting just isn't there for me, it's mostly a collection of breakdowns and mathy riffs strung together.
the second half is where the band really shines. the songs are all longer save for an interlude and show the band knows how to write a memorable song. "doomtech" being the clear standout showcasing the bands genre mixing abilities with the melodic clean sung sections combining with the pummeling riffs and dissonance to create something excellent. the ending lyrical repetition of singing to death and screaming how'd it get like this is infectiously catchy. "end eternal" features a great bouncy nu metal styled riff slapped with some chaotic dissonance and has another standout use of lyrical repetition towards the end. the title track "errorzone" is another highlight starting with chuggy mathcore but seamlessly drifts into a melodic section with crooning that sounds very much like deftones worship done well. i definitely prefer this section but this album is just a fun blend of genres with a bit of variet and it will be interesting to watch the band in the future because they can go many different directions.
check out: "doomtech" and "errorzone"

4.5 superb | Vanilla Scoop Rangler (don\'t come near me I have a gun) | May 15th 22 | Hardcore bands are meaning a lot to me right now. The absolute insanity and hurt that Errorzone is coming from definitely deserves its spotlight. Its fast opener Virus://Vibrance strikes the mood with its nu-metal influence and alien sounds, with other tracks having neat add-ins like backup vocals and choruses. The future they tell seems dark, but the story they live looks bright.

4.1 excellent | Erwann S. STAFF | August 3rd 21 | Fuck yeah, old school Boston metalcore. You know what to expect then: chaotic metalcore bordering on mathcore, but the band gives this well-known aesthetic their own twist: industrial nu-metal. Whereas other attempts like this have failed to impress me (Car Bomb's latest record), here the two worlds collide in a cohesive manner: the dissonant, off-time riffs aren't dampered by the cleaner interludes, and the Slipknot/Korn worship they bring to the table do not feel forced, being given the exact time needed to create the maximum impact.

3.0 good | zaruyache | April 10th 19 | Nu metal metalcore. The down-tuned pounding of Slipknot and the frantic violence of hardcore, with barely any clean singing nonsense or repetitive breakdowns. Vein essentially took all the good parts of two generic styles and just smashed them together in a way that yields a surprising amount of success.

2.5 average | cjbizzlebizzle | October 2nd 18 | At the very least this is an interesting record bringing a huge amount of nu metal influence into a metalcore package. On the other hand, the vocalist uses the same scream throughout the entire runtime and the riffs feel extremely repetitive. Much of the content feels like something you have heard maybe 15-20 years ago just re-purposed into a mathy metalcore package. The one thing you can't take away from Vein is the energy. This is one of the more aggressive and truly heavy albums of recent memory. There are rarely breaks and hardly any room to breath in between breakdowns and manic fast-paced dissonant riffs. That being said, just being heavy is not going to make an album great and Vein use the same chuggy lows to dissonant highs trick way too many times. An interesting listen a few times around but the samey sound of every track and the fact that it just feels like some nu metal shuffled around makes it get old fast.
