A great album. It the vein of NWOAHM. Sure its a joke, but since it doesnt take itself seriously, neither do you. Every solo, break down, and scream fits the song and the subjecy.
And its a way better joke than anything Dethklok will ever do

A parody metal band based around Arnold Schwarzenegger sounds like it could be a huge disaster; however, there are some surprisingly good songs on here. Tracks like "I Am A Cybernetic Organism, Living Tissue Over (Metal) Endoskeleton" with its great chorus, "You Have Just Been Erased" and its shreddy lead guitar line, and "It's Not A Tumor" (whose subject matter should be obvious) are all fun-filled metal romps with hard-hitting riffs and solid drumming. The problem with this album is that the songs start blurring together towards the end, and even the skits start getting less funny. Also, the disappointing "Not So Hidden Track" (which leads nowhere) is an anti-climatic ending to the album. Nonetheless, this is worth checking out, especially if you're an Arnie fan.

The arrangements on Total Brutal may not be varied or anything too serious, but if you don't take anything from this album lightly, then it's clear that Austrian Death Machine have bored you to tears... and if you bleed, then we can kill you. Do not be the party pooper, you cybernetic organism, living tissue over metal endoskeleton.

Arnie definitely puts it best "you think the songs all sound the same? of course they sound the same! it's cuz' they all sound BOOOOOOTALLLLL!" The album takes a childish joy in how ridiculously hard and generic it sounds and oddly enough that is just enough to take it out of monotony and makes it rather refreshing.

It's funny how a factor that cannot be actually heard on an album as you listen to it can affect your opinion on that same album. I bought Total Brutal after I came across it at a listening post in a music store: I thought it sounded cool and was rather violent, the exact kind of music that meets my demands when it comes to doing sports, but nothing too great. Little did I know that it was only one person who wrote the entire album as well as played every instrument. Adding to this, the fact that Total Brutal was written within one hour, and suddenly I really started enjoying it! It's definitely not the album of the year, but it's worth a listening if you're into that kind of music.
