Pusha T goes out to Wyoming and we get one of the best hip hop records in years with vintage, stellar Kanye production and beats and Pusha's great wordplay and drug dealing raps. On one hand you can listen to the album purely for the beats which are on the grand side of thing with Kanye pulling out pianos, horns, guitars and full on samples to make a diverse yet tight style on DAYTONA. On another hand you can spend the entire experience appreciating the imagery Pusha draws up with a heavily storytelling approach about good ol' drug games. Obviously, as a whole these elements combine for a spotless 21 minutes of hip hop. Rick Ross and Kanye join in for the two guest verses and both provide excellent accompaniments to Pusha T. You cannot miss with any of the tracks here but If You Know You Know, Come Back Baby and The Games We Play are classics.

With 21mins in length, this is definately not an album. Yes, it flows well, Push is as good as always, but I don't hear any standout track. Then Kanye raps about himself, which was definitely not needed. After 3 years of waiting and teasing, I expected more.

87/100. Despite being only ~20 minutes in length, DAYTONA is an impressive collection of absolute bangers. While Pusha's vocals are great and his lyrics are memorable, the real show here in my opinion is Kanye's production. From beat switches to samples, Ye pulled out all the stops, going above and beyond my expectations. Starting to get excited for this summer of releases.

The first entry of Kanye West's Wyoming Sessions, Daytona is an impeccably produced and lyrically intricate album from Pusha T. These two things, however, feel at odds with each other. While Kanye West's production is once again captivating...I much prefer hearing Pusha T rap over Neptunes beats. Kanye cannot rap as well as Pusha, but there's no denying these are beats Yeezy would sound great over. And that's not to say Pusha T doesn't deliver BARS, he does, but every now in then there's a weird sample thrown in that throws off the track. Take for example, Come Back Baby, a track that has a banger beat but an old sample shoehorned in just for the sake of the song having a hook. Pusha's the kind of rapper who doesn't need to depend on a hook to latch on to a listener. Aside from that...I don't feel like the album has much of a theme to it. Not all albums need one, but this just feels like good song after good song. But...very few GREAT songs. I'd say Santeria and If You Know, You Know are the best. Don't get the hype for this...it's pretty well produced and rapped, but...that isn't enough :/

Pusha T (and Kanye) deliver 7 straight tracks of bars, hooks, and top notch production. Each songs stands out from the rest and the album flows seamlessly from front to back. I only wish it was longer, but then again, perhaps that is what makes this project so fantastic. It satisfies completely and yet leaves me wanting more.

This is gloriously nasty and precise hip hop. Every bar cuts, every beat maims. Compared to Scorpion, perhaps the highest-profile release of the year, the difference between good and bad hip hop has rarely been so clear. Against Drake's meandering 25 tracks across 90 minutes, Daytona comes in at a razor-sharp 20 minutes. Pusha says everything he needs to, and then some, with venom to spare.

Accomplishes precisely what was hoped for outta this all-shortie 7-track Wyoming series: a superb sampling of the MC at hand and an airtight package of unassailable verse+beat solidity. Plus a hook or six. T goes hard-n-triumphant but is continually composed, full of exactitude and accentuation and detail -- the deficiency of gimmickry is wonderful, as is how his now-notorious ender-disses toward Drake and Wayne highlight hard truths rather than spit senseless spite. As is his disgusted yucks. Some Standout Sum-Ups: "So I don't tap dance for the crackers and sing Mammy / Cuz I'm posed to juggle these flows and nose candy", "The Warhols on my wall paint a war story", "I am your Ghost and your Rae / This is my Purple Tape".

Kanye West may not be as effective on his record albums, but when he puts his hands to produce works by other artists, it's almost always a big hit. "DAYTONA" is one of the best Hip-Hop albums of the year, with a lot of melody going from Soul to the darkest of the genre. We can already see Pusha T with other eyes, since it has been some time that he stands out in the musical scene.

Everything is really fresh and exciting for 1. Push to rap over and 2. For Kanye to produce. The
first two tracks melted my mind and Hard Piano lost me a little with the chorus and Ross. Come
Back Baby and Santeria are stellar and while Push holds it together WWMD is lost with Kanye's
rapping a bit. Infrared lets Push shine with a beautiful haunting beat slowly building behind him.
This record grabbed my attention and made me listen. I'd recommend it to anyone that still enjoys
meaningful production and lyricism in their rap music.
