Such a straight forward jammer. It is so easy to plop in and listen to no matter where you are. It fits any situation perfectly. And maybe adds a bit more grim to it as well. Take eating a hot dog without Celtic Frost, it would be a normal experience. But take for example a hot dog with Celtic Frost playing in the background. The hot dog may become to your eyes a shark battling for its freedom from the bun. Or, it may turn into a ray shooting into your mouth. Or it may turn into a grim frostbitten finger.

These guys can barely play, but goddamn do they make work what they have! The drums in particular are surprisingly solid as a click-track! The sloppy ass guitars play crushing riffs, and the amazing production makes it all sound really crisp.

The influence of "Morbid Tales" on Black Metal is absurd. Almost all the bands that have appeared in the last twenty years, quote this album like one of their majors influences. Celtic Frost has always been at the tip of the iceberg in these quests, and their early works are what shaped the entire Black Metal identity along with other bands from the first two waves of the genre. I just think the aging process on the album was more negative than anything else, but that does not detract from its legacy.

While considered to be the beggining of black metal this album is definitely deeply rooted in thrash. You can hear many similarities to Slayer's 'Show No Mercy', although Celtic Frost debut is a little bit superior. Especially when you consider vocals and riffing.

Absolutely authentic with a very unique sound. The spirit of extreme metal through and through. Almost no flaws on this album, besides the fact that Tom G Warrior can get a little bit monotonous despite the amount of character he adds to the album. Love the guitar work.

A simple but effective extreme metal record, Celtic Frost's debut, released not even a month after their formation, proves them to be a viable force in metal. However, a lapse in production quality on the final three songs makes the album not quite as enjoyable as it could have been.

Their first two records were both extremely influential to the extreme metal scene. I really like their HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA intro here. The best track is Into the Crypts of Rays.
