It's an improvement to the previous two albums, but it's still lacking. There are some decent songs like Voices, I Am Above, Burn and Call My Name. However, the rest is quite forgettable. Bump

This is a really hit and miss record for me. The songs that hit had really catchy hooks that were easy to get into. On the other hand, the ones that didn't get their hooks in were just awful. Bump

I believe In Flames needs to step a bit further for a potential "comeback". I enjoyed "I, the Mask". I enjoyed it very well. Catchy riffs and melodic choruses works good. It sometimes brings boredom with it but In Flames put it out wisely. If we gonna state this as a melodic death metal, I would be upset. This is more like nu influenced metalcore I think. But it's not the melodic death I know. So, to enjoy "I, the Mask" don't get high expectations. This is a solid record and has some good catchy tunes. I hope In Flames would step a little further with their further installment.

The key for musical redemption is right in front of In Flames and they just keep pissing it away. The first four songs are easily the strongest material they written in years, with a clear throwback to the Come Clarity days. And then you have songs like (This Is Our) House which is the same dreadful stuff that made Battles and Siren Charms unlistenable. A very inconsistent record that pictures a band broken by it's own irresolvable identity crisis.

So, this album seems to contain two different parts: The first 4 songs and the rest. Whilst the
first 4 songs are really good and would deserve 3.0 or even 3.5 points (Mr. Friden is even
screaming again here), the rest quite sucks (except "Burn", which is good again), starting with
"Follow Me". The second part even offers some quite nice riffs from time to time, but at the
latest, when the chorus begins and/or Mr. Friden starts to sing (and we all know this isn't a good
sign), well, then the next song is dead again. Best example for this is "Deep Inside", which
starts groovy with a very nice riff, but the chorus destroys it completely. So, mathematically
said, 5 songs which are good (3.0 points) + 7 which are not so good (1.5) and everything devided
through 12 gives a rating of 2.0. Sorry guys, again, this is just poor.
