A ritual of blood and fire, Clairvoyant truly feels like a torturous journey through some kind of afterlife. Denser, grander, angrier, more ambitious and more beautiful than anything the band have done before, State Faults has returned stronger than ever.

Hawks admit it, you did cry. Opener is probably the best song I've ever heard from this
genre, which I admit I know exactly dick about. But it rules. So does Olive Tree and the
Title Track.

Clairvoyant is such a passionate, bittersweet record. I love the vocals and the constant shifts from fast, heavy breakdowns to slower segments that bring up feelings of longing. It hits the emotional beats a lot of my favorite screamo records do. I feel like I've found a band I will be returning to for some time, and I hope I can go wild at their show one day.

It doesn't do it for me, even though I can sense what's the point of the music. I wouldn't return to it, and although it was a little over half an hour, I was waiting for it to end. I'd rate it lower, but don't want to give a negative rating since I don't feel like I ''get'' the genre.

A screamo record with plenty of atmosphere and post rock/hardcore injected throughout that could likely be enjoyed by anyone into dissonant rock/hardcore/punk because of the rock solid performances on all instruments and excellent screamo vocals. For the most part brings on a wall-of-sound effect with constant painful screaming but a few brief respites (the excellent title track, a few slowed down non-screamed sections of chanting/spoken callouts) provide much needed relief in the overall pace of the record. 'Sleeplessness', 'Clairvoyant' and 'Olive Tree' standout and provide a good picture of what State Faults are capable of with their dissonant, melancholic and energetic take on screamo.

If State Faults would face 2 paths on the left and right, they would traverse in the middle, to get straight to the point. They don't do Emo by halves (even if it's obviously a fusion of several other styles as well), when anger rumbles and sadness explodes. Clairvoyant is their best album but also one of the best of this year. It took me a while to apprehend and understand it, then with time I understood that you have to be able to read between the lines and Clairvoyant immediately becomes more endearing. It's crazy, it's strong.

The first half of this up to track 7 or so is incredible, about a 4.35 and clearly a potential grower. The music is brutal, intelligent, changes pace all the time and is just a chaotic delight to hear. Drums are incredible, and I finally love the vocals with those more aggressive instrumentals behind them .Track 4 is my tentative favourite of the album, but 1-6 are absolute jams bar some sections of 3. The t/t is a turning point and is much slower and doomier than the rest. It's not quite my favourite, but also it brings a bit of freshness mid-record, and in the context of making a grand album and not just a great album I think it fits really well. The run from 7-11 has more ups and downs, whereas the first half was all ups. Highlights are the brutal last third of 9, and the melody on 9. 11 is a jam and graciously comes back to the sound of the first half. I feel diced about rating this in 4.5 range, but also I've grown more cautious about what I 4.5 since I 4.3'd Nuvolascura. Clairvoyant feels superior, so I guess I'll have to rejam both. I still think this is fantastic and a grower, so it'll tentatively reach a 4.25rEdit: it has bursts of 5 genius but it doesn't quite manage to maintain it all the way and the second half falls off a tad, 4.2

The hardcore cuts are average at best and sound uninspired to the point of boredom.
Tracks with more of an emo/post hardcore sound have a bit more to offer but still fall flat overall.

2013, when a band was influenced by screamo to popularize blackgaze and shake the heavy scene. 2019, when a screamo band was influenced by blackgaze and released the best heavy album of the year. Nothing is lost, nothing is created, and everything is transformed. All this album would need to go to a 5 is a damn fine perfect listen.
