3.7 great | Raul Stanciu STAFF | October 9th 19 | This is tighter than the debut album and easier to sink in. They are (along with Tuber) one of the more original/interesting bands from the stoner/psychedelic scene in Greece.

4.0 excellent | manosg EMERITUS | September 26th 19 | I have to admit that, initially, Age of Aquarius felt kinda underwhelming. That was mainly because of my increased expectations and the fact that the guys decided to differentiate from Riza by cutting down on the folk elements (and instruments) and focused more on the post side of their music. Nevertheless, once Age of Aquarius started to sink in, it gave more with each listen as it revealed its progressive nature which in turn makes it a bold step for Villagers of Ioannina City, as there is a possibility that with this album they might alienate part of their fanbase. Therefore, this LP is less immediate than its predecessor but more mature and will probably bring more fans outside Greece as it doesn't contain Greek lyrics at all. All in all, a great effort.

3.5 great | Gene Gol-Jonsson CONTRIBUTOR | October 27th 22 | Groovy, riffy stoner with a cute accent, but also one that goes on for a little too long. If you like your stoner psych very down-to-basics and straightforward, then dig right in.

4.0 excellent | ExoskeletalJunction | March 23rd 22 | 22nd March, 2022: Villagers of Ioannina City - Age of Aquarius (stoner rock, 2019)
It feels odd to call this one better than its predecessor, because it’s so much less unique,
less creative and less interesting, but the songs here are just so much stronger. The
Villagers made a name in combining stoner rock and metal with traditional Mediterranean folk
music, and at times on albums they went off on tangents completely abandoning modern sounds.
This one still has some distinct folk influence, but there are no deviations nor even major
segments of oddity, which would probably result in a mixed response, right? Everything that
made this band unique has been watered down?
Well yes, but no. The stoner rock sound of the band was never that captivating before, but
here they’ve tapped into something exquisite. The title track is grandiose and powerful, even
evoking some progressive rock undertones, and there’s a post-rock melancholy to some of the
longer instrumental sections too. But more than anything, they’re just writing better
melodies. I loved Riza for its unique genre combination, I love this one because I can sing
along to it.
