4.5 superb | Lucman | November 17th 19 | Somewhere City is an emo record full of charm, superbly well-written melodies and out-of-left-field twists, and a genuinely emotional backbone. In the scope of its genre, it's a modern classic.

4.5 superb | Atari STAFF | November 19th 19 | Just when I was getting ready to close the book on 2019 this album happened. A charming, infectious album that
took about three listens to sneak its way into my top 10. This is Relient K without any sort of religious angle
(except for 666 flags, which is more like a tongue-in-cheek blasphemy). Also RIYL: Motion City Soundtrack, Tiny
Moving Parts, Mae

4.5 superb | JackisJack | July 18th 23 | An upliftingly positive emo LP that is not only fun, but also an incredibly musically intriguing experience from start to finish. OA's decision to blend math rock elements as many modern emo bands have decided to do in recent years, is demonstrated at its full capabilities here. Pat Doherty's frantic drums that change from apple orange beats, to blast beats, to disco beats without feeling forced or technically overwhelming is truly something to behold. On top of this, Ryland Heagy's unique vocals are some of the best to come out of what I thought to be a dead genre in the last decade. His ability to follow the instrumentation with his voice on the LP's Title Track is wildly fun whilst also being incredibly vocally impressive in terms of voice/breath control, and his clear passion for the emotionally charged lyrics he's singing is contagious. All in all, Somewhere City is the best emo album I have heard in ages. OA set out to prove both themselves, and the idea that there is still room for this genre to progress and shine. Not a single skippable track, and an incredibly approachable experience. Considering the idea that this album was dropped shortly before the Covid-19 quarantine, the idea of a blissful, imaginary town where the realization that everything will be okay is apparent may have helped many a listener as they struggled to adapt to a new normal at the time--and I implore you to take a visit to Somewhere City as well.

3.5 great | DylanProductions5 | October 9th 20 | These guys have a chance to be something really special. I haven't loved an emo album this much since Remo Drive (do you count Glass Beach?)

4.5 superb | Chamora | July 3rd 20 | This is the most important album in emo music since "You're Gonna Miss It All". This is the culmination of that fusion of math rock, traditional emo, and pop punk sensibilities that's been brewing for the last 5 years. I don't think it will be quite as successful as the albums it proceeds, but I view this band as the next Neck Deep or Modern Baseball.

4.0 excellent | Scott | January 8th 20 | This record just feels really good. It knows what it is, how to do it, and executes said thing really well. A mix of math rock, pop-punk, and emo is not hard to do half-assed, but the band knows how to take those elements, with a touch of songwriting prowess, and create music that's well composed and enjoyable the whole way through. This isn't the Citizen Kane of all music, but it doesn't have to be. For what it is, and what it's potential reads, this is a step up in the genre.

4.0 excellent | notkanyewest | December 20th 19 | After pretty much a whole decade of loving Ian Cohen-core emo, I finally started to lose touch
with it over the past year...something about the combination of extremely online aesthetics and
the overly cutesy, borderline musical-theatre vocal delivery of a band like Glass Beach just doesn't
work for me. This record is the exception that proves the rule though- the riffs and hooks are
strong enough that I could stomach the saccharine lyrics as they gradually wormed their way into
my brain.

3.6 great | Erwann S. STAFF | December 3rd 19 | Pop punk/emo with a mathy riff in almost each song. The main problem is that these math rock parts are the best ones in each song, and throughout the whole album. These parts are imo better, and heavier, than the rest if the album, and it makes the classical midwest emo/pop punk chunks pale in comparison. It's still a good record, but the blending of genres done here is disproportionate, like when your mate puts too much alcohol in your glass. Edit: yeah it's growing on me; I now feel the urge to play Mario Kart Double Dash yeeeet.

2.5 average | Chino smoking it up! | December 2nd 19 | With a song or two about bullying and being bullied...naive sounding, yet with some nice and fun jams in techmetal lol much as Hail The Sun sounding. Songwriting is ok, the rate is me not them...
