5.0 classic | Atari STAFF | February 7th 20 | album's so damn good it brought Sanders back from a 6-year music rating hiatus

4.5 superb | Slothy Seconds | January 10th 20 | On first couple of listens, this is fantastic, lyrics are bleak, vocal delivery is improving, a second singer or female voice would be welcomed. Musically they are experimenting within the punk realms and honing their craft to a point where flamboyance is their obvious destination. AOTY so far!

0.0 | Slex | February 3rd 20 | Darker, more aggressive and streamlined
than Schmaltz , full of visceral
pre-chorus', explosive hooks and a truly
exceptional rhythm section (seriously, the
bass here is just phenomenal), Spanish
Love Songs have crafted an arresting and
worthy follow up to one of the past
decade's best punk releases.

4.5 superb | TheSupernatural | February 15th 20 | I really liked Schmaltz and this just blows it out of the water. The writing, the hooks, the vocals, the production... everything is so much tighter and powerful. Yes, the lyrics are all thematically similar, and yes, the vocals do walk the line between shouting and lamenting. That's the point. For me, those have always been the band's strengths. With Brave Faces Everyone, they have added that compelling musical element that was lacking at times in Schmaltz. This thing is straight fire front to back.

4.5 superb | davezillaMP3 | January 15th 21 | I remember at the start of 2020 I was riding the same high as everyone else, I even said that this for sure would be on my best of 2020 but I think it might at best barely miss the cut. Here is what I have found retrospectively, is that while yes a lot of the album does resonate personally (like with everyone else, this is the Emo album for everyone in Gen-Z who are in their 20s and dealing with the various struggles in that) there are just some moments on here that do come off as a bit too whiny. Perhaps it might just be that I am in a completely different mindset than when I heard it at the beginning of the year. "Brave Faces Everyone" is an album that relies so heavily on Being an emotional gut punch that when the jab does not land it will stagger slightly. I also found the first half to be way stronger than the second half, though the second half was still pretty good too. This is still a pretty high recommendation from me, it is just something I was a tad too high on the hype train for in retrospct.

Fave track(s): Optimism (As a Radical Life Choice), Routine Pain, Beach Front Property

2.0 poor | Chino smoking it up! | May 26th 20 | For someone that listens to pretty much one sided stuff, this is very one sided, I honestly felt I
was listening to the same song, the same mood, the same 3 notes in different songs...awful
experience overall...there's practically nothing on this genre (emo) that I can see above average
music. I try to peak to see what's hype about and end up always disappointed.

4.0 excellent | strawberriesandgravy | April 29th 20 | If it weren't for those awfully contrived "emotional" moments on the record (Where the music drops out and it's the singer putting on this performative wavering voice), I'd've given this a 4.5.

5.0 classic | Alex C. | April 12th 20 | In ten years, I'll listen back to this disc and find myself back on the balcony, at 29 years old, reflecting on all the shit that has happened.rInstant classic

4.0 excellent | NordicMindset | February 15th 20 | Schmaltz came out in 2018 embodying elements of some of my favorite bands from this decade's punk
scene. Spanish Love Songs don't really deviate from their already derivative sound but again, I don't
give a fuck about that when the songs are better than most of the originators. Menzingers, Wonder
Years, Gaslight Anthems, none of them have been this good since 2013 at the latest.
Whereas Schmaltz had lyrics about masturbation addiction, Nazi haircuts and getting fat, Brave Faces
Everyone significantly ups the ante, making the stakes nationwide ? less "I", more "we". This is a very
bleak album. Suddenly the songs are about the suicide generation, war on drugs laws, poverty,
destructive effects of heroin and health care costs.
No, it's not as good as the debut. I don't like how this band keeps putting the weakest songs on the
album right at the very end either

3.1 good | Erwann S. STAFF | February 12th 20 | Good emo/punk rock/pop punk making a big 'upbeat-yet-sad' mash of the biggest bands of the scene's last decade: The Menzingers, The Wonder Years, The Smith Street Band and the likes. I can still appreciate such music, but all the new pop punk/emo albums I've listened to these days feel nothing but attempts at bringing me back to the days where uni was the beginning of a new chapter. Is it safe to say I've outgrown the genre? I don't know, but I've realized no recent album can make me feel like the bands and albums I loved around 2012. That's life. I'll jam On the Impossible Past, Enemy of the World and The Greatest Generation once again.

2.5 average | Lucman | February 12th 20 | I never grew to love Schmaltz. It's a fine record and all, just not what I needed at the time. I'm seeing the same pattern here. Solid musicianship, competentant but generic, gruff vocals, and lyrics about the sorry state of our lives. I just don't really see what separates these guys from everyone else.

4.0 excellent | Bandit1786 | February 11th 20 | His voice may not be for everyone, but the heartfelt lyrics and emotion went a long way for me. Is this album perfect? No. But it's an 'anytime' album which is always nice to have.

0.0 | NOTINTHEFACE | February 10th 20 | Schmaltz with a fraction of the levity, more on-the-nose lyrics addressing despair and depression, and a more direct musical approach to match. First impression says it's nothing radical, but this band has a way with that formula that few can match.
