Had so mich potential... After a few teacks I thought this might just become my second favourite Corpse. Technicality upped by a lot from Kill, and brutality still there in soades. Lethal guitar-work and CG sounds incredible. Alas, it all ended up falling flat in typical CC fashion. Generic ultra-boring drumming alternating between a slower rock n roll best and blastbeat from Paul, and no variation whatsoever. The technicality too got lost quick. Too bad.

Isn't this just kill but without any of the creativity. And why do all corpse albums have averages indicating a great score when they're carbon copies of each other, thereby watering down and diluting the great aspects

A drag to listen to from beginning to end because all of the songs sound very similar; and, really, they sound no different from Cannibal Corpse's other material: gurgling, growling vocals; drop-tuned guitar riffs; and gory lyrics.

Evisceration Plague is one of those albums that is really just the meat and potatoes of its genre. It has all of the elements you expect in a death metal album and executes them really well, but nothing to set it apart from the other hundreds of death metal records that could be described this way. The guitar tone is crushing and many of the riffs are as catchy as they are brutal. Corpsegrinder really has the gold-standard for gutturals and he puts them to good use here. The title track creates one of the most authentically ominous atmospheres out of their whole discography with riffs and lyrics that fit so well together.

We can say that the last decade was the worst phase of Cannibal Corpse's career. Changing the sound just ahead of the years 2010, "Evisceration Plague" is a great example of a band exhausted in what it does, even if with excellence. The fathers of Death Metal hardly make mistakes, but sometimes they almost get there. On a record with this conception, having the best song that mixes more Doom and Sludge of Death Metal, is because something in the path of the disc has been poorly elaborated. Anyway, nothing like a good respite from a few years to get back to good phase.

A REALLY solid album from Cannibal. not a lot bad about this album at all ,razor sharp production with guitar tones that can take your face off, amazing riff work with a huge amount of technical proficiency and some of George's best vocals to date.

so, lastest Cannibal Corpse album is actually worth it. Just like a good bunch of the Corpsegrinder era albums. They keep the wankery to a minimum, rarely ever go over the over the top (No, no error here) with their lyrics, and the drumming isn't only blastbeat speed. They've truly matured with time, now they know how to do stuff well, which they managed already with Kill.
