Probably the best post-2000 release from Corgan, since he had an actual goal with the music and took care to realize his vision (something sorely lacking on the pandering grab-bag nature of the albums that followed). Billy was still interested in doing new stuff at this point. His voice is in peak annoyingness, but the music is actually really nice here. The thick, woozy shoegaze guitars are gorgeous, and the synths are solid as well. Interesting how this predated the whole 80s synth/goth/shoegaze revival thing by a few years, too. The best songs here could easily stack up against a lot of material from Adore or Machina.
