sólstafir's overreliance on an annoying vocal approach, immensely simple rhythm sections and songs where absolutely nothing happens is wearing immensely thin. melodically bland to the point where it's so frustrating to listen to.

In the first place:rA lot of good things happen on this Lp:rAn amazing production that everything sounds as it should: The guitars sound sooo good, with the distortions strongly giving the feeling of classic rock and roll and Metal, the bass sounds heavy and clear and the drums are tuned as they should be. Keyboards and extra orchestrations all tied together superbly.rThe compositions of the tracks are long and varied in color from ballads and classic Solstafir notes to black metal (back to the roots)blast beats..( Soooo Coool!!!)rEverything is going great..until the voice comes in..rIt's like they forgot to record it and mix it with the rest of the instruments, and did it all at the last minute.rBoth the mixing of the vocals and the way they were done for this record sound completely wrong....

100th rating for this album. Bully for me! Anyway, I don't care entirely for this latest type of slow ballad rock'n'roll meets black metal-ish experiments. By far the most straightforward and uninnovative album in Solstafir's catalogue, even though its highlights are indeed fantastic.

This one doesn't sound inspired as the previous efforts, although there are some nice
atmospheric bits here and there. The singer is in a continuous downward spiral, he's getting
worse album after album, to the point that now he sounds even irritating.

This is pretty for sure. Yet, although the record is beautiful, it does not manage to fully embark the listener on the journey they created. It does succeed at time, like on the epic "Or". But these moments of pure Solstafir beauty tend to be rare, leaving the listener frustrated as most of the album falls into the "aight yeah it's cool" category. Likewise, the vocals seem forced on certain instances, not as gripping as on previous records. Nevertheless, this is a mostly pretty prog metal album with some post linings, but it ultimately falls short of the band's best records.
