I legitimately despise this genre. People are right to claim that Owl City is worse than the Postal Service, but not simply for ripping them off. Owl City is worse for even WANTING to rip the Postal Service off in the first place.

A debuet album that I found to be very impressive! Very catchy and soon became a little too overplayed for me, however I always enjoy going back to it everynow and again to hear a bit of electronica at its best.

Such Great Heights alone makes this album worthy of a 5 out of 5 but the rest of the album is solid as well. Nothing Better is one of the greatest break up songs I've ever heard and Brand New Colony and The District Sleeps Alone Tonight round out the highlights but the entire album is fantastic with the possible exception of the closing track Natural Anthem but the rest of the album is so good that it doesn't matter.

Overall very nice to listen to. The album isn't as sad as it seems actually. It's very calming and heartwarming, something you could sleep with (and gently fuck with, apparently). If I were to rate this completely subjectively it would've been 4.5 or even 5. There's something inexplicable that I adore about this album. FAV TRACKS: This Place Is A Prison, Brand New Colony

If Death Cab went for a more electronic direction. Ben Gibbard's vocals and the instrumentals sound fresh initially, but as the album plays on it starts to wear off at moments. A pleasant and mellow album with some great standout tracks while others feel like rehashes of one another. It's too bad this project wasn't further explored.

Most of the songs soar, but this album is held back by some cringeworthy moments. Usually the lyrics and the overall cutesy feel are to blame, but the arrangements are usually lush and catchy enough to make up for it. Certainly left its footprint all over the 2000s.

Moody, catchy, and richly textured. The production is excellent and the melodies are haunting and unforgettable. However, the lyrics swing wildly from genius - District Sleeps Alone Tonight, We Will Become Silhouettes - to awful.rIt's a strange paradox, to love an album but to have the opening line of Such Great Heights be one of the worst I've ever heard: "I am thinking it's a sign that the freckles in our eyes are mirror images and when we kiss they're perfectly aligned." Nothing Better is pretty, but has its share of clunker lines, too.
