Arena rock in an era when arenas aren't filled with rock acts. Pure energy, pure fun, but the kind of record that does falter in how same-y all tracks are: mathy rhythms, hardcore aggression - from time to time - and a slight post-rock aesthetic compose ALL tracks' formula. I'm a sucker for such aesthetic so I dig this, but it doesn't have the same impact it had on me 6-7 years ago.

If And So I Watch You From Afar started off their career with their most steadfast album, how is it that the whole thing really fails to come together? We all have our theories, and mine's that the Irish post-rock group wasn't as aware of its eccentricities as maybe it should have been here. But overall, it's a little puzzling that the same group that released the diverse All Hail Bright Futures made this album. All in all, this album's too compressed, too predictable, too routine.
