This album has been playing on my iPod for a good minute.
Honestly the progression from their first album to "portraits" is amazing. Not only has the musicianship improved remarkably the vocals are a lot better, heavier, and range has improved as well. The lyrics are very well thought out and meaningful as you can tell they play with such passion. Also the recording quality has improved. All together a solid sophomore release from the Christian Metal-core band For Today. I can't wait for there third!
Albeit generic, this is one of the better metalcore releases I've heard in a while. Mattie's vocals have improved a large amount and the song structures aren't nearly as random. The use of breakdowns is fairly often and may be a turn off to some people, but it doesn't stop them from being crushing and intense. The Watchmen may be one of the most intense songs of `09 thusfar with a growl from Mattie that makes one wonder how it's even possible for someone to go that low. With a slew of great guest cameos, this album is sure to be a must-get for fans of metalcore.
