I will have to disrupt this onslaught of positivity. Despite my optimism for the record, I was left mostly tired and bored by the end. Most songs are pretty decent, but their being together on an album for 50 minutes causes each to overstay its welcome, especially due to their relatively repetitive nature. The jarring synthwave imagery was also a great clickbait for me, as this is a very dated-sounding metalcore with very few musical surprises under its belt. But like I said, most songs were decent enough and I did come away often having a good time, even though the whole tracklist was too much.

Fairly decent metalcore. Has some engaging vocals and interesting moments, the OK Computer rpastiche of Thing With Feathers being one of them, but an album this lacking in dynamism in its rtracklist cannot warrant 40 minutes of listening, let alone 51 (!), especially given how played-rout this style of metalcore is; if not for this it would be a 3.5. Surprised that this usually rrather discerning site has overhyped this album, though it certainly isn't undeserving of praise. rThe synthwave parody album cover is also weirdly misplaced.

I like this album a lot, but it currently sits at the top of the list of best albums of the year on this site, and that is just absurd to me. People will say "oh but it's so heavy and angry." Well sure it is. But I would argue this is the least ETID of any ETID album ever.

It's the songwriting of Ex Lives mixed with the production of Low Teens. It works and theres a handful of highlights, but a lot of the songs in the middle are undercooked and don't have much to make them standout. Singles are all great with a few deep cuts that will be welcome additions to the setlist. Keith's vocals are a step above (most of) Low Teens and are the best they've ever been, and his lyricism is up there too. After relistening to their whole discography with this as the conclusion, this isn't the album that Low Teens was, their genre defining magnum opus, where ETID broke free of being the underdog hardcore band who would always release quality albums but was always in the shadow of their influences. Radical is a quality album but it's also the first where they failed to top themselves, an album that lives in the shadow of its predecessor. It's going to get a lot of listens from me but for an album 5 years in the making, I'm a bit disappointed that ETID's career long run of improving themselves with every album stops, or at least pauses, here.

Great record with some bland moments and really terrible drum tones. Desperate Pleasures is one of the band's best songs, but the latter half of the album is definitely better. Probably a bit of a grower like a lot of ETID's stuff.

Being the highest rated album of the last five years or so I did expect something? not better, but like..? I seriously loved a couple songs and the refrain of WHOSE SIDE ARE YOU ON sticks right to you. That being said, it didn?t quite seem inventive enough to really stick it to me, and I do think that hardcore releases very seldom need to boast a 50 minute runtime, because at least sonically an untrained ear (like mine) will run out of nuances to find and pick apart. Either way, still a VERY solid album, just starts to feel less and less like an ?album of the decade so far? as it gets to the end

ETID doing ETID things. Excellent songwriting variety and creativity throughout most of the album. Lyrics that are politically shallow and bordering on cringy angst in places, as well as a lacklustre final 3 song run hold this back from being their best.

When it comes to an ETID record this nine full-length for the legendary Buffalo metalcore band continues to show why they are a wrecking ball in the genre. The satirical yet potent and political lyrics continue to be a heavy highlight. The in-your-face screams and breakdowns are so potent and memorable you might just hit repeat again and again. But what really stands out is that although this sound is not at all new for them, damn do they make it sound so good. My biggest complaint is that the length is not really justified here, with it losing steam near the back end, but the ending does hit very heavy.

It's difficult to be objective with a band like Every Time I Die. This wrecks, the riffs are a
frantic ADHD-friendly barage, they swarm you for a few seconds and then switch on a dime. Keith
buckley swerves between the most genuinely aggressive "pissed" vocals I've heard, he sounds like
he wants to rip your head off, and his cleans are once again rugged and tinged with southern
swagger.
It's ETID. They're an impressively consistent band. In terms of straight up heaviness the
production lends itself well, and sonically it comes off more metallic than Low Teens was (at
points) "Thing With Wings" being an exception. They may not be trying much new, but Every Time I
Die are a unique band and they can afford to play it safe due to having such a recognizable, and
original sound.
