Blind Guardian may as well be the least cheesy power metal band on this side of the known universe. Imaginations from the Other Side showcases them at their best. After releasing two albums which were neither power nor speed metal, but somewhere in between, these Germans finally embraced Power metal in totality and crafted a masterpiece that'll go down in history as the best Power metal composition which had very few peers at the time of release and after it.

Brilliantly written, a bit improved over the last record in terms of complexity, but possibly even more powery. Although this is a musically wonderful album, it is just so not my style.

I've had a fair share of Power Metal and this was definitely not my first listening to this genre or this band. I had heard many praises of this album so decided to listen to it. With a powerful and blazing first track (also the title track), I expected the album to go uphill but instead it felt like there was no ascent at all and it all sounded the same. I didn't feel the epicness that one feels when listening to Power Metal songs, in rest of the tracks. I'm not saying that they were bad, they were decent but not good enough for me to give another listen to. But the ending track was considerably better and I enjoyed it more as well.

I've had this album for many years, and its album art always seems to inviting. There's a definite
issue of bass volume on this album, but the production also allows Thomen's drumming to roar with
a fury that carries this album to be my favorite BG release overall. The cheese is imo used pretty
sparringly here, especially compared to later releases.

On Imaginations from the Other Side, Blind Guardian make my all time favorite Power Metal album that relies just as much on speed and thrashy riffs as it does on epic vocal arrangements and power metal like melodies. It is because of this unique blend of speed and melody that Imaginations works so well and succeeds in my eyes where so many other power metal albums fail. It still possesses a bite on songs like I'm Alive, Born In a Morning Hall, and Another Holy War that I think all metal albums should possess and which most power metal albums lack. Also this album revolutionized power Metal along with Iced Earths Burnt Offerings and you can't deny the excellent song writing ability on display here. Best songs: Imaginations From the Other Side, Bright Eyes, and The Story Ends.
