ASIWYFA has always been a very consistent and great band to listen to when you want a little bit of punch when it comes to your instrumental post-rock. They always bring in that math rock flair that keeps them more interesting. But on this new album ?Jettison? they are playing around with some more classic post-rock backdrops with the use of spoken word and chamber music, and honestly, I am all for it. Although this album does have some road bumps of inconsistency and lack of full inspiration (cough cough God Speed), the flow of the album and the overall presentation are great and I can?t wait to see what the band does with this style next.

The first third is remarkably groovy, and the final third is bright and dynamic. The middle third drags a tad, but the new sound suits ASIWYFA with only a tasteful amount of cheese. Title cut, Dive Pt 2, and the production (the bass in particular) are early highlights.

I think this one is going to age well. Their journey as a band started with a bang and
became more and more refined over time, maturing at its peak on their last LP, The Endless
Shimmering. I think this is another step forward for ASIWYFA, even if it isn't as hard-
hitting as their recent work, there's a lot of dynamic range with this project. Their
ability to incorporate strings was hinted at in previous works, but it comes to fruition
here. It's a singular piece of music that doesn't overstay its welcome and resonates with me
more and more every pass-through.

An epic post-rock journey with math linings (ofc) and a string quartet (waw!), Jettison trades the harder parts of the band's soundscape to more cinematic one. It's a journey though: the softer material kicks it off while the hard parts take the lead in the second part. Some power is thus lost in the first half, but when it hits with that new aesthetic - like on "VI Submerge", it's a banger.
