2.0 poor | GoldenGuy444 | March 19th 22 | Even as a Muse fan, this is bad. I have found something to really enjoy in every Muse album.. even Sim Theory for all of its pop indulgences had some real gems. But Man, this just can't hit the mark.
Some tracks sound great in their bombastic stupidity (which is what I want from Muse) like You Make Me... Halloween, and Won't Stand Down. But a lot here is undercooked. Liberation has hands down some of the worst lyrics Matt has ever penned (if I'm sure it wasn't randomly generated) and the production during the Choir segments is awful. (Why is there a flanger?) Ghosts could have used a better instrumental instead it just peters along with a fairly repetitive arpeggio.
...But the real piece of work is Verona which is just the worst. Dreadful mixing with Matt, Dr. Synth Lead, and the guitar fighting in a 3 way duel for prominence with what sounds like clipping beating them all. The synth choices are jarring against each other. Matt's vocals don't fit the softer instrumental and sound like they're from a different fucking world.
And don't get me started on the snoozey sleepy vocal melody during the chorus of the closing track.

1.5 very poor | Erwann S. STAFF | October 28th 22 | As cliche as Muse has always been, this is them at their most unapologetically trite and ready to hit the stadiums. For example, some tracks here are clear Queen ripoffs, and bad ones at that ("Liberation"), while others try to conjure pit-opening activities with shitty nu-metal riffs ("Won't Stand Down"). Hope all the cash they made with this record will get taxed as all fucking hell and redistributed to all those struggling to make ends meet. 1.3

3.0 good | Vibeymetal | August 27th 22 | Anyone who rates this on 1st or second listen is not doing it justice. I have probably listened to it 3-4 times, with live recordings and other variations to boot. rIn the end, at first, I only had 3-4 songs I liked, and now I have 8 that I like or absolutely love (those two I don't being the title track and Ghosts, although Ghosts may grow over time). Some songs I do not love the studio version (Compliance and Liberation), but the live recordings really show their true strengths. Sure it is NoT cLaSsIc MuSe LiKe OrIgIn Of SyMmEtRy but it is something that grows, like most Muse albums.

3.5 great | MUSEli | July 19th 22 | The already released three singles are average, like Won't Stand Down (the verses sound a bit like Imagine Dragons), or great, like Compliance. But this wouldn't indicate 4 points out of 5. The reason for this grade is the yet-to-be released Kill or Be Killed, which is an absolute banger, and their best output since Black Holes and Revelations. Based on descriptions, the second half of the album will be amazing (thinking of Euphoria and We're Fucking Fucked in particular).

1.0 awful | iGuter | October 16th 22 | If Muse would just get their heads out of the dirt they live under, maybe they could make another great record, instead of making anything as awful or cringy as this. This is not something I revel in. I?m, honestly, shocked how painfully bad this album is.

2.5 average | Orangentorte | September 27th 22 | Muse offer a lot on "Will Of The People". With influences ranging from hard rock to synth pop to metal and so forth the
album can be fairly entertaining at times. Plus, Matthew Bellamy's vocal performance is as impressive as ever. Some
parts of the lyrics might be a bit on-the-nose or direct or cringy, other parts have multiple facets, for instance the piano-
ballad "Ghosts," which appears to be dedicated to those who died during the pandemic, but also works as a typical
break-up song. "Liberation" might be great as a Queen homage, but as a Muse tune in its own right it seems rather
unoriginal. Then there's the track "You Make Me Feel Like It's Halloween," which might work as a fun song to play at a
halloween party, but not as an exploration of domestic violence, as it is explained in one particular interview. All in all
though, the album is a fun ride, especially for fans of Muse.

0.0 | sputnikuser | September 17th 22 | In Muses album they use, Queen music and play pop, rock, poprock, metal, and, ballad’s,
basicaly, its a Muse album but this time it is not great. Muse like throwin stuff and everythin at the wall, and cringe lyrics; most of there idea are stolen and then played obnocksus. It’s more Muse than amusing-sorry Muse fans but I am right, dont hate me though Im just tellin you the trutg. It’s produced like beautifull, but gimmick a lot, includin a “classic Halloween song yeah right; its catchy if you like obnoxus beats with synthy explosions that really arent fun. Compliance isn’t better, a electronic song wit one bad synth line in it; it sounds like Madness the movie (if you even remember that song; but not as catchy or signifcant. the song after is Liberation; a Queen copy song which is much worse because it isnt catchy; it has diaper auto toon and a chorus I didnt give a *** about because it sounded like poop and i would know!!
The songwriting is boring really Im like %1000 serious, and the problem bleeds like a dying cut into the final song, We are ***ing ***ed; the song sounds like Absolution, but worse..- and I mean I really hated it. There isnt much time to catch a breathe, the ballads, are songs to fill the album and thats all thats good abowt it; and the album is stuffed bad. Won’t Stand Down and Kill or be Killed are the two most ‘well written” songs but their the only songs.. that are not toilet water.
I really didnt love the album, honest, I thought I would because Im a Muse fan but this was not fun.pretty much every song sucked and didnt even sound like Muse and more like Muses grandchildren. Yeah, look away and listen to all there other albums which are 5/5. this one is 2/5

2.0 poor | XSebbyMcMuffinX | September 16th 22 | Ok... Track: #1 It's "The Beautiful People" gone stadium pop. James Corden style. #2 80s synthpop throwback that purposely tries to have no substance to support its lyrical theme. #3 Intro is ok, standard Muse fare, but then it becomes Queen and less catchy somehow? Why would I pick this over Queen? I don't really want to keep hashing this out. This does feel like an elongated experience for being somewhat short (10 tracks, 37 minutes). There's something that takes me out of basically every song, often the lyrics. In terms of overall enjoyment, I enjoy some of this... Less than half. I don't think this should be compared to early Muse. And there're barely any heavy parts, that was over hyped.

2.5 average | Antonius | September 11th 22 | When it comes to pompous songs with catchy choruses, Muse should be considered amongst the few modern masters of the craft. In their ninth studio album, the Devonshire trio records an album that is easy and memorable in the ear. However, this does not always translate to quality music. Despite the lack of depth and substance, I found a couple of interesting songs such as the stadium rock title track and the powerful "Kill or be Killed". Despite its Imagine Dragons influences, I have also noted "Won't Stand Down", probably the heaviest track in the band's entire catalog. Homage to Queen "Liberation" was a decent effort while the fist-pumping danceable "Compliance" and "You Make Me Feel Like It's Helloween" come with synthpop melodies influenced by the electronics of Simulation Theory."Euphoria" is a modern adaptation of old-time classic "Time is Running Out" while closing track "We Are Fucking Fucked" is probably the most interesting track in terms of music but the abysmal lyrics and their structure left me negatively amazed.r

1.0 awful | IamNOTninjaNICK | September 4th 22 | Only a couple decent moments on here for me. What
a waste of time and talent. The Butterfly
Effect's new album completely destroys this as
does does Glow/To Lose A Name, by
Unjust....respectfully so of course. Also if you
want something like older Muse, but with elements
of The Crystal Method and The Prodigy check out
the self-titled 2005 album by a band called
Miocene.
