With inspiration and an ability to hone their flaws, and turn them into, well, not flaws, the Michigan emo quartet, Empire! Empire! (I Was A Lonley Estate) create one of the best albums of its kind I've heard in awhile. Though the music gets abit "samey" after awhile they youthful group almost completely makes up for it with earnestness and energy. Which brings up their best attribute, the ability to, as stated before, hone their flaws and mask them with pure, unadulterated emotion. So while it may not be perfect, the angst filled What It Takes To Move Forward, is a top notch '09 release and one of the best records of its kind I've heard in awhile.
