4.0 excellent | AmbushReality | August 19th 22 | I dunno what album some of you guys are listening to (and complaining about?) but the first three tracks alone are the most entertained I've been by Soilwork since Living Infinite.

3.5 great | manosg EMERITUS | August 21st 22 | I am almost oblivious when it comes to Soilwork's previous work, but this is really enjoyable. Full of hooks, catchy melodies and memorable moments.

2.0 poor | ItsOnlySkinDeep | August 19th 22 | Good grief this is boring. They just keep falling more and more.

4.5 superb | prnzokoshiro | August 19th 22 | I feel this one kicks the living shit out of Verkligheten (I am the unpopular-opinion aligned balance-restoring true neutral druidic asshole, after all), which seemed to add the Night Flight prog touches to the songwriting more prominently - but (and I understand they had to gently break the new drummer in) was otherwise by-the-numbers Soilwork (and tbh, the least effective album of anything The Panic Broadcast and on... but hey, they had to re-establish themselves with the expected, as 4 yrs between albums is eons & epochs for them - just like a 5 rating is average for me =D )... this one's a different animal... I will likely lower my par-for-the-ofc rating as the perceived overall quality becomes clearer with comparisons, obligatory 'clicking', delusional revelations, hindsight mad dog 20/20, etc. - what? I still have 5 for the previous album! sifl n oly crescent foul! my word iz born must mean dogshit by the heaps. this album is in both turns more laidback n simultaneously more potent aggressive bursts than its uhh predecessor, for lack of better term(inus) ~fini Please hang up as our menu options have changed o_O

3.0 good | Mitch Worden EMERITUS | August 19th 22 | "most entertained I've been by Soilwork since Living Infinite."
The Ride Majestic rides over all of this. . . . .

4.5 superb | resident sputbirb with fancy hat | August 19th 22 | Soilwork have found a new beautiful facet within their sound with this album. The melodic sense on here is just sublime and the instrumentation is almost constantly interesting and engaging while Bjorn upped his performance again to easily his best cleans in Soilworks history.

2.0 poor | Pikazilla | August 17th 22 | This band isn't even trying anymore. The hooks aren't there, the riffs are stale, the songs
have no staying power. Just listen to Act of Denial instead.

3.5 great | Malcontent | August 24th 22 | Catchy, melodic, interesting - with a handful of exceptions, every track here is better than anything on Verkligheten. Very, very solid album.

3.0 good | SacredSerenity | August 20th 22 | The songs themselves are mostly good but listening to the full record in one sitting you can feel a lack of contrast and variation

4.0 excellent | FuzzyWookie | August 19th 22 | Putting at a four until I listen all the way through, but I agree these complaints about "no hooks, uninspired riffs" are unfounded... I have stage 4 earworms from Overgivenheten's chorus alone.

3.5 great | terriblekonrad | August 18th 22 | Hmm, this one is hard to rate. Guitar work is aggressive and perfect as never heard before, but some songwriting are fillers and it's heard too. Strand vocal is not phenomenal like on the last 3 albums. Still Övergivenheten is worth piece of art added to their long discography. I recommended to check it out by yourself and then rate. Some great ones here and there.

3.5 great | Kars Landman | January 30th 24 | Some mega bangers (title track + Valley...), and towards the end some stronger songs are positioned. The middle is a bit bland and the loss of Dirk Verbeuren is still felt, sadly. Bjorn however is shining like a star here.

1.5 very poor | BUDDHA IS METAL | August 26th 22 | a mccore/nude muddle version of a dt album. the occasional bm section doesnt forgive it

4.0 excellent | SpideryMan | August 24th 22 | This is really amazing. The only song that doesn't hit the mark is "Death I hear you calling" and even then you can see it as a bit of a change from all the symphonic elements and blast beats.

3.5 great | Bridge4 | August 21st 22 | I don't know about you guys but when I listen to Soilwork I'm not expecting groundbreaking heavy metal. I go to Soilwork when I want to hear sick guitar harmonies, great screaming harmonies and vocals, and some god damn attitude. I want the cookie cutter verse-chorus-verse and I want the riffs that underlie those to be sick as fuck. That is all. That's what this album does. There are some misses for me though. I really don't like Vultures and I think Death, I Hear You Calling is their laziest song. On the other hand, you have songs like Overgivenheten, Electric Again, Is It in Your Darkness, and Harvest Fucking Spine that showcase the best of their new sound. Yes, this album is New Soilwork by the numbers, but New Soilwork is good music and this iteration is just that. It does what it needs to do, no more, no less. Good fucking music.

4.5 superb | VANDERlism | August 19th 22 | It might not hit the first time, but right away while listening to it the second time. I appreciate the innovative songwriting.

3.0 good | Project | August 19th 22 | Pros: Soilwork is really good at writing melodies. Bjorn is a remarkable vocalist. The opener and
Vultures are very good.Cons: Soilwork is really bad at dynamic contrast and varying song
structures which highlights the lack of variety in their instrumentation. Death I Hear You Calling
is their worst song in years. The production is pretty bad overall; it's too clean and polished,
particularly the drums (which makes the heavy parts weaker, which feeds into the 'lack of dynamic
contrast' thing).
