I am so obsessed with the fact that this album ends with a space disco duet with Rufus Wainwright.

Great album, starts very strong but dips a bit near the middle. The ending however, with its more ballad type songs, I might even like more than the beginning.

If a 3.8 was available this would probably be it. On the whole this is a bit of a step up from the last record if not just a bit more inconsistent. There is hardly an unpleasant moment here and some truly beautiful ones (Bends, Bad Thing Twice, The Loneliest Time) and while 'Beach House' might just be a bit blunt and cheesy, when was Carly ever not including a few tracks like that on her albums, its just carefree fun. I was admittedly skeptical that this would be just another pop record but Carly has proven me wrong and I am happy to see her thriving in the post-Emotion part of her career. I would say I am optimistic about the next stages of Carly's career given her vocal style and knack for writing songs.

Long-standing pop icon Carly Rae Jepsen is finally back with her fifth album after what some people have posited as the greatest back-to-back pop albums of all time with her 2015s ?E·MO·TION? and 2019s ?Dedicated?. On this new album, we get more of the same which is inherently not a bad thing, but there are some duds on here and fewer true highlights than in her past albums, which honestly is to be expected most artists have a hard time pulling off one spectacular record let alone three in a row. Still a really solid listen from front to back and will have to dance around your apartment, or public whatever you want to do. Also, the closer is the best disco track to come out this year, hands down.

Carly's worst record since before absolute classic Emotion still is a fine pop album: big yay. While there are a couple of absolute bangers (the opener, "Talking to Yourself", "Western Wind"), the scattered flow and overall inconsistency is what ultimately diminishes The Loneliest Time's listening experience.

It grooves, Carly sings, it's fun. It's definitely not the most substantive record but it's a blast. It ends on a strong note, with Go Find Yourself or Whatever, a genuinely fantastic ballad, and the title cut, the peak of sentimental sweetness on an album full of it.
