25 years into their illustrious career, Death Metal gods Immolation have released masterpiece number three. Majesty and Decay is like going a full 12 rounds with Mike Tyson, except that he drops your ass with a shot to the temple in the beginning of the first round and just keeps on wailing on you for another 36 minutes until you're fit snug in a body bag.

First time I heard this record I went out and picked a fight with a hefty brown bear that I provoked in the forest. Took away his berries and spit on his children. Needless to say, the bear cracked 4 of my ribs, tore off my leg, broke both arms and gave me a concussion to remember. Case in point, dont fuck with bears.
Majesty And Decay is the audio equivalent of being mauled by a large perturbed mammal. It hurts so much but it feels so good.

AOTY 2010? Probably not, but with Majesty And Decay Immolation have produced a solid death metal album that will push the eventual winner until the bitter end. Not unlike last year's premier death metal release, Ulcerate's Everything Is Fire, Majesty combines everything you would expect of a death metal album in a blissfully heavy package without once dropping from the inhuman tempo set by first proper track 'The Purge'. Quite simply this is 45 minutes of death metal paradise... Oh yes, and it killed my family.

a decent return from immolation but nothing quite as good as people would say. its just a solid death metal release nothing more nothing less. some good songs , some bad, some great riffing, some not so great. nothing much else relaly needs saying about this except that its nowhere near as good as here in after.

This is pure death metal. Full of dynamic changes, top notch riffs, shredding solos, and pummeling drums, what surprized me is how catchy the riffs are, almost working as hooks. The best example being "A Glorious Epoch", catchy as well as groovy. Of course there's absolutely nothing new here, but it's just an excellent record made by excellent musicians.

Yeah, this is just as excellent as people say. Is it golden era Immo (HiA-UC) level? Not quite. Excellent nonetheless. Maelstorm riffs with dissonant melodies as usual, along with mad technicality and sociopolitical lyrics.

Absolutely awesome. Consistently awesome. A band that has been around as long as Immolation and keeps the same sound should sound stale, and yet it does not. Everything sounds just epic, especially the closing track, comfort of cowards, is just amazing. So, so, so good.

Had to up my rating to a perfect.....the reviewer is correct in the aspect of the riffs not rehashing enough to become boring...to boot; the riffs ARE quite memorable, as I cannot count how many times recently I've found myself humming the riffs to songs like "A Glorious Epoch" and other noteables....
Indeed one of the best Death Metal albums of 2010.

Mad, mental and like any other Death Metal classic this is a superb album that kills families, breaks down front doors of houses, gives dogs black eyes and other physical abuse not deemed possible by hyped Animal Collective albums. It just shows that you don't have to 'babble incoherently' like Tom Yorke to make masterpieces.
