4.5 superb | ajcollins15 | June 21st 23 | Louis Cole and Genevieve Artadi return after a solo career hiatus for both, in which we see a continuation of the electro-funk sound but now with a heavy step more into nu jazz. The whole album is laced in this hazy lo-go recording style that Louis Cole has been known for on his solo material (as well as clowncore meme band). But what makes this album stand out from many in this hazy nu jazz style is just how intense and memorable almost every track is. The smashing horns on ?I?m The President? with its solo piano chopping through at the end. Or maybe the groovy drums and bass progressions on ?Nightmare? is what you want. Everything is groovy and bouncy to keep you coming back over and over again. My only negative is that ?Ride That Dolphin? and ?It Will Get Real? are small steps in quality from the rest of the album and the interlude closer is really awkward. Overall, though this is an extremely fun album from the two avant-pop innovators.

2.7 average | Erwann S. STAFF | January 16th 24 | Louis Colecore: hypersugary jazzeverything bullshit that invokes falsetto to get its poppy tag. Unfortunately, its maximalism doesn't get me where it wants me to go, ie bangerland.

4.0 excellent | asswipe007 | October 4th 23 | Let me start off with style:rJust the right balance between experimental and listenable. In general, just the right balance between a lot of things. Funk grooves manages to feel like heavy metal. Jazzy ballads manages to be catchy and singable. Honestly, the best way I can describe the album is this: if Korn had gone to Berkley to study jazz composition, then decided to release electronic music. And as someone who started out listening to Linkin Park, then discovered Mr Bungle and went on to become quiet comfortable with listening to a lot of fucked up shit, to me, this hits the spot.rIn terms of composition technique, structure, the melodies themselves, etc (in other words - the craftsmanship), really, it is nothing too remarkable. The songs are well-written, has good production, good riffs and melodies, are well structured, etc. Really, I feel like this is the only thing that is dragging the album down - there is nothing about the songs themselves that really stand out. The strength of the album lies in its ability to fuse and experiment stylistically. But the songs that lie beneath the layers of style are honestly just good songs, but nothing more. An album that is more interesting to listen to than it is emotionally potent.
