What a triumphant, gorgeous record. I haven't had an album make me tear up in years and this one really did the job. Excellent stuff.

Devastatingly beautiful. Definitely their most evocative album; sounds like how a Terrence
Malick movie feels.

3.0 goodComatorium. | June 16th 23

It's beautiful but there's only really one song that goes anywhere. Otherwise it just sort of floats by. Pleasantly but uneventfully. Serious lack of percussion which I guess is to be expected considering their drummer got me too'd and fired a few years ago.

3.0 goodGene Gol-Jonsson CONTRIBUTOR | July 3rd 23

Sigur Ros at their most tediously overarranged, often somewhat aimless, and just occasionally gorgeous in a way that is actually rewarding and not just self-assuring. This album really believes it has some tunes that could change your life and sells it with conviction, but it can also slog on quite tiresomely.

It?s been a while since we got a true Sigur Rs album, nearly 10 years in fact. With the group delving into many other side and solo projects no one knew if we would ever get another one. Well with the release of ?TTA? we can lay to rest the band is not going anywhere. In many ways, this feels right at home with the somber and bright-sounding instrumentals over angelic and atmospheric vocals. But this also shows a divergence away from their post-rock backdropping for full orchestral arrangements. With soaring strings and intense piano backing harrowing and heartbreaking vocals. The album feels and sounds like a Sigur Rs album one would expect from them and this both helps and hinders the band. It?s a marvel to listen to and really can put you in your feels if you listen to this sad. But it can also make you feel light and airy as if on a cloud. It?s a truly spacious and expansive listening experience. But it can be extremely tedious sounding over time and the pallet of the album does leave you wanting more. I wish the band played with ambient electronics more than just bright chamber orchestration. Still, it?s a great return for the band, and hoping to see them build this into the future.

Listening to new Sigur Ros material after a decade of hopes and chagrins is a joy. ATTA undeniably is Sigur Ros; that alone is a treat. At the same time, this band's legacy weighs on this new release: is ATTA on par with their best? Hell no. Worse: its direct ancestor, Valtari, was much more playful and whimsical in its brand of atmoambient ethereal shizzle. It's beautiful music, but this band has made such a career out of beautiful music that this easily ranks amongst its least entrancing pieces;

Essentially continuing from the orchestral and ambient qualities of Valtari and frontman Jonsi's recent solo album Obsidian instead of exploring new territory. Skel is my favorite, such a beautiful piece of music that sounds like something from a movie score.
