Ugh this this the worst I've heard these guys, just so run of the mill. A damn shame given the gap between albums

Staind has been a band that I used to like a lot and Break the Cycle was one of my favorie albums back in the day. After some fruitless attempts which I accedentally listened to (The Illusion of Progress and Staind), even Lewis himself gave up. Fast forward to 2023 and 12 years after Lewis' escapade in country music, Staind returns to the nu metal style that made them famous in the very begining. I admit that Confessions of the Fallen caught me by surprise as it has the all the elements that made me like this band in the first place. It has the traditional heaviness in the riffs, the memorable choruses and Lewis' trademark vocals. In many instances, tracks contain unusual but accurate growlings, reminding some times Benjamin Burnley (Breaking Benjamin) and others Jonathan Davies (Korn). Lyrics have the traditional depressing character and vocals the typical aggression in the tone. rRecommendations: "Lowest in Me", "Out of Time", "The Fray", "Cycle of Hurting".

Some great songs here even besides the radio single which is probably the blandest track. Never thought I would hear a modern Staind song on the radio in the current year though.

there were a few fun nude riffs in the beginning but drifted off into boring ass alt rock with a noninteresting nude here and there

I Didn't expect a masterpiece after 13 years and it clearly isn't. Only 10 songs with a short running time just over half an hour. rMusically everything has been said and sung before by the boys, there is no change or progress in any direction. There are some decent songs, the vocals are still good, some mediocre stuff and middle of the road Radio Alternative.rA big problem for me is the sound, the mix is pretty terrible, you can't hear any different instruments. rThis album was noted but will be forgotten in a few weeks.

Every song sounds like a lesser B-side from their other albums. Doesn't even hold up as a throwback or nostalgia trip like the 2011 self-titled, it's just a collection of the same "Staind songs" you heard in 2003.

good nu metal riffs, good nu metal hooks, good nu metal vocals, the occasional electronic element to the production is a bit odd but not overtly detrimental, overall better than their past 3 efforts
