65daysofstatic's latest LP sees the birth of a well-bred hydrid of a few different genres i didn't think could ever mesh so well together; post-rock, IDM, post-industrial and a dash of 8-bit. it's a surprising hit for me this year as it's quite different from the band's previous work, safe for their debut. here, they've returned to their roots by utilizing heavy, driven guitar and frequently inserting off-kilter electronic beat patterns under sampling and broad keyboard parts. this is quite ridiculous dynamic that makes their crescendos even more engaging to listen - and sometimes, even dance to.

They were exploding anyway - a rush of hips shaking IDM served on the typical layered post-rock scenarios to which 65DoS are famous for.

This is the album that helped ease me into instrumental music. At first the concept of music
without a singer baffled me (I only really started caring about music at all in 2010). This
changed that.rThe songs that have stuck with me on my playlist the most are 'Dance Dance
Dance', 'Debutante' and 'Tiger Girl'. I especially love the last one of those. It's a 10-
minute track, but the buildup and climax all make it worth it. 65daysofstatic is fantastic
at drawing it out and making it feel like it's slowly building up into something huge, then
letting it reach that peak without it being disappointing or overwrought.rAll-in-all, the
album is just superb. Instrumental rock with an electronic tinge. I love it to this day.
