Album is an absolute mess, even for Tera Melos' math-rock standards. There is some amazing (and i mean amazing) clarity in the last few minutes of "Trident Tail", but other than that the album is confused with no real sense of direction or purpose.

Starts off so smooth and hits you with everything it's got throughout, manipulating your emotions and giving you the best chills. Finally, the ending track "Manar the magic" (Vinyl version), which you will remember from those teaser videos, will put you in the state of mind which can only be explained by the front cover of the album. Happy.

This album flows so good I could barely notice it the first time I heard it. Production might be a problem, for it could have been much more focused in certain aspects, nonetheless, I'm loving it. As far as AOTY goes, I doubt this could top Diamond Eyes on my list.

Just got this - wasn't expecting much but this album just flows soo well after the second listen. The incoporated jazz is what defines this album from the others. You'll be on the fifth or sixth so quickly its insane. Fun.

It's been a long time since I've been this vexed by an album. Simultaneously catchy and completely inaccessible, Patagonian Rats is a conundrum set to music, a massive contradiction that eventually folds in upon itself and begins self-sustaining and breeding like its titular rats. Oh, and it's also really good... I think. Maybe.

Album of the year indeed. fluid fun math endeavors gliding into transparent jazzy interludes. Enjoyable lyrical content. Tera Melos reigns supreme.

i feel like tera melos might be the most important band for progressive music out there today with this album, i love it. haven't quiet absorbed it enough yet to give it a 5, but it probably will be.ri also noted it has a lot of the same elements for the structure of the album as a whole that frances the mute has, which i dig.

I love the vocals throughout the album, and I think there's a slight nod to either melody four or five somewehere. My favorite album since Drugs.

Less enthralling than their debut, Patagonian Rats brings da hooks forward - but these hooks are buried within layer upon layers of intense guitar, ultimately not managing to fuse the math and the pop properly. Still kinda fun, but not as much as it could have been.
