You know what? I'm not going to actually listen to the album, or even more than 30 seconds of one song. I'll just hop on Sputnik and give it a big ol' 1 along with Lil' Wayne's entire discography to balance out my objectivity spoiled by giving every album I kinda like a 5 on first listen. Everyone will think I have such discerning taste!

Well, this is an album I was not expecting to hear this year. I totally get why people love AND hate this, for me I just keep thinking how much of this was frowned upon when it first came out. I'm glad No Hands did so well or else I think Hard In Da Paint would've gone into meme obscurity.

Banger after banger, Flocka spits his gangsta shit on top of Lex Luger's post-crunk/proto-trap beats (ye I actually used "post-crunk" as a genre what ya gon do fam?). It's very hood, from the stupidly gangsta lyrics to the constant ad-libs (POW POW POW POW), to Flocka's amazing delivery, to the uncompromising beats that would make my momma roll her eyes. It's amazing to see something so relentlessly brutal become a staple record spawning a whole decade of rap supremacy. It does get repetitive towards the end, but it never gets tiring. GG Flocka. Where you trap?

Flockaveli will never die. No matter how much dirt has been thrown on this ancient relic of an album, it will always be the holy mammoth of the trap genre. Not one single album holds the power Flockaveli holds. Time can truly destroy albums, and Flockaveli is void of time. Time is nothing.

I like it when rappers yell, in my dream world we would only get bulldozers like this instead of some fashionable autotune moanings or lean-influenced mumblings that have planned obsolescence written all over them. I had high hopes for the "distort" scene but it still doesn't quite get here with its screaming vocals and general lackadaisicality(except for 69 maybe). This shit is eternal.

This is a great review (the default review) for an objectively classic album. Meaning that this album's influence, particularly Lex Luger's production, came to and still does largely define popular rap to this day. Sharp high hat rolls and triplets, booming bass, orchestral, almost Gothic melodies - all of these elements (especially the former two) are emblematic of hip hop's new age.

Most of his lyrics are simply his name over and over. Most of his beats are nearly the same instrumentation in nearly the same sequence. Most of his lyrics (that aren't his name) are lazy. Most of his persona seems like he's either a waste of skin or trying way too hard to be hard.I'll take Immortal Technique's "I never stress rappers or their employers/I'll put a bag over his fuckin head and torture your lawyer/'Cause it's too simple to shoot you/I'll tazer the roof of your mouth and electrocute you" over any type of "I'm hard" shit that Waka has.Let's see Waka top "I'll kill you and take your land like an Israeli expansion".
