0.0 | bloc | March 14th 11 | Musically, Vices & Virtues brings flashbacks of glorious 80's pop; simple 4/4 drums, backing OH-OH-OH's (and other similar structured backing vocals) around every corner, and some of the freshest sounding synths and other sounds. Pair these with modern and bright production as well as Urie's (now matured) vocals and you have a very anthem-like album. Unfortunately, the clever and snappy wordplay found on Fever is missing...

4.5 superb | Dalton DuBois | January 18th 18 | Panic! at the Disco put all their experimental cards on the table with this release and ended up with a royal flush.

4.5 superb | 3waycrash | January 7th 16 | The proper follow-up to A Fever You Can't Sweat Out. It's similar to that album, but it's from a slightly more "mature" and experienced band. Brendon Urie's vocals are strong as ever, the instrumental parts sound better, and the album is full of songs that are some of the band's best. Panic! were able to recapture the elements, sounds, and energy that made fans enjoy them in the first place. While I may like AFYCSO a little more (for nostalgic reasons), I consider this album to match it in quality if not better.

3.0 good | MadBaron | February 21st 15 | Huge, bright, flamboyant and often epic pop-rock full of explosive choruses and interesting rinstrumentation. On this album Panic throws everything but the kitchen sink at you: big rdramatic string sections, disco basslines, 80's style synthesizers, children's choirs, rstomping percussion etc. While musically excellent, the lyrics prevent it from being a truly rgreat album. The lyrics are full of saccharine sentimentality and sickeningly sweet rromanticism, and sound often like Urie is trying way too hard to be poetic and ends up being rverbose to a fault. One misses the cynical witticisms and literary references of Fever You rCan't Sweat Out.

0.0 | | October 26th 12 | Examining various musical aspects while sacrificing a bit of the strength in the songwriting, Panic! At the Disco have crafted their best album yet, with strong vocals, varied and entertaining instrumentals and an overall sense of confident direction. However some of the instrumental sections can be bland at times and the lyricism ranges from clever to mediocre. But overall the strengths far outweigh the weaknesses.

4.5 superb | Supertails | August 14th 12 | "Vices & Virtues" is the culmination of everything Panic! at the Disco had done leading up to it. "A Fever You Can't Sweat Out" teased at the idea of an alt. rock band bigger than itself, willing to experiment and "Pretty. Odd." toyed with the notion of classical baroque stylings.rOn this album, the new Panic! at the Disco embraces a bit of both sides. Mixing their rock with their baroque, you get things like the hard rock 'Let's Kill Tonight', the blues-influenced 'Sarah Smiles', and the nearly indescribable mash-up of styles that is 'Nearly Witches (Ever Since We Met)'.rThis is what Panic! should be. This is what they're best at. Alternative rock with a baroque twist, not trying to be anything that they aren't. If this is where they stay, that's fine by me.

3.0 good | dormisher | June 28th 11 | This album isn't bad - but it lacks almost everything that made their debut such a classic
Bump |
5.0 classic | Isaacbean | May 12th 11 | Really a comeback if I ever heard one. I feel as though they took their base in their first album, combined it with the upbeat style/production of their second album, and then were like "Oh, let's make everyone poop when they hear this album", and vwalla. Ya gotcho self a nice steamin' beautiful masterpiece of catchyness.

4.0 excellent | iamSeraph | April 5th 11 | who would have thought they come back with an album like _this_. it's so versatile and chameleonic...wow. I love the quirky moments and most of the diverse song outros. I would recommend anyone: listen to this record and form your own opinion. ps: my 700th albumrating - YEAH! :D

3.0 good | LightOnAStreet | March 29th 11 | Didn't like it quite as much as "Pretty. Odd.", but it's a pretty solid album. Urie's wildly-fluctuating voice is enjoyable, I just can't deny it.

4.0 excellent | KrissWatts | March 21st 11 | Immediate, catchy beats and superbly produced. There's only 1 song that disagrees with me, that being the acoustic number 'Always'. Other than that, excellent.

4.0 excellent | kahtic | March 20th 11 | Brendon Urie has the best voice in the genre and I was pretty disappointed to see Ryan Ross leave. Nevertheless, Brendon did pretty good at his first attempt at writing lyrics. I dont know why you guys think AFYCSO is a grammy winning album when it isn't. I think V&V has a better chance at winning a grammy than the previous albums. Im really hoping this album does well so we can hear more.

2.5 average | Shadester9 | March 17th 11 | Panic! always had something unique about them. Whether it was the oddball lyrical themes and
unique pop sensibilities of the first record or the famous pop band pulling off baroque,
Panic! were always peculiar in a good way. Urie and Smith have finally found a way to throw
that away. This sounds like a pop record through and through, and they've somehow become
even poppier than their first record. The songs lack originality and have very little
lasting power in your head after they finish playing. I had always defended PATD out of all
the other pop-rock bands of the 00's but it seems they've finally gone beyond the line.
Aside from a few standout tracks (Mona Lisa, Sarah Smiles, Memories), this album's a
throwaway. Much like most of Ross and Walker's album. It seems like if you combined this
album with The Young Vein's Take A Vacation, you would end up with Pretty. Odd. Which was
their best album. This band needs to reform.

4.0 excellent | randomnames | March 15th 11 | Mix the old with the newer, and you get this newest album from Panic! At the Disco. Leading single The Ballad of Mona Lisa gives you a very good indication of how the rest of the album is, and on my first listen this was truly enjoyable. If you liked A Fever You Can't Sweat Out, this should also be enjoyable for you.
EDIT: After a few more playthroughs, I can say that I enjoy this album very much. Very accessible rock music (but not a bad thing, in this case), enjoyable like I've said for the most part. The album does not fade towards the end, and some of my favourite tracks include Always, Sarah Smiles, and Nearly Witches.
