This album deserves far more credit than it gets. As stated by others, it is nothing short of a miracle that the album is created anyway, since they only wanted to try and record a couple of songs for a greatest hits/singles compilation. Every time I listen to it (which is quite often and far more than a lot of other DM-albums) it still moves me. Highlights are Home (of course), It's no good, Barrel of a gun and Insight.

Dirty-sounding, gritty and confessional, you can definitely hear the 90's on this album! there are plenty of gems here, yet it remains one of D.M.'s most overlooked albums, understandably so because these gems are swimming in a sea of filler. There are tons of pointless, unmemorable tracks on here detract from the overall product.

That this album exists at all is an impressive feat, after all the obstacles that came Depeche Mode's way prior to its release. A few decent tracks but too many instrumentals and slow tracks unfortunately make Ultra one of the bands weakest releases.
