5.0 classic | TarkAhh | July 6th 11 | I have recently picked up the album at this years Summer Slaughter tour. Such an amazing album and from my last post about rating the album off the one single they released remains. Each song flows well with eachother. There are alot of orchestra pieces that play throughout the album. What makes it good is that it isn't like a metal band with music thrown over it. Like Fleshgod Apocalypse said, they ARE the orchestra. Highly recommend this album.rThe DeceitrThe ViolationrThe EgoismrThe BetrayalrThe ForsakenrTop songs in my opinion

2.0 poor | MasochistChrist | July 27th 11 | Fleshgod have improved their vast writing abilities, while hampering it at the same time.... rThe overuse of keyboard is so off putting for a fan of the first albums, I would now add rthem to the symphonic death metal genre if anything.

3.5 great | tom6 | July 27th 11 | Far from perfect, but one of the most wonderfully chaotic albums I've ever heard. The orchestral elements make it more believable and brutal than countless pure tech death offerings that are technically more "extreme".

4.0 excellent | TheHamburgerman | July 3rd 19 | There is a saying; "being half empty is moreso the hate you bring", and it rings true. I tried to give my brother a well deserved rest, the canyon was rather high you know. However, as the spine of the world slightly crumbled, I fell down this high pillar. Fire butted my imaginations, I felt numb and uncomfortable. Whatever gave me the strength to hold on to my voice was nothing but grounded advice. In a variety of timbre I shouted at my own mirror that I was more worthwhile than an empty version of me. As a full version of me this resonated, logically under the modern understandings of physics, to me and because of that certain version of strength, love and local voices I have been able to help my brother. We live now, perhaps a bit too blazing, under rocks and planes. Not as free as we wanted, but certainly not with the fear of eyeless thoughts.

1.5 very poor | EasterInTheBatcave | August 14th 16 | Way. Too. Much. Blast beating. The technical ability is astounding, but this record is an absolute assault on the ears. Dynamics are desperately needed. I want to like this, but its single-minded hammering means I can't.

4.5 superb | TheKenneltyVeil | December 20th 12 | This is what they've got to show as far as an accumulation of their sound, and it couldn't have worked out better. It's what they needed to become in terms of a band and so much more! Symphonic metal that lets the orchestral pieces take the wheel just as much as it does the band instruments when it's called for.

3.0 good | Zilla2112 | November 26th 11 | 'Agony' is an interesting combination of death metal and symphonic elements, and upon first hearing it, it sounds awesome. However, after a few tracks, the album becomes a bit tiresome, and the originality completely runs out.

4.0 excellent | branflakes911 | October 27th 11 | Epically orchestrated and unrelentingly aggressive, Agony is about as extreme as it gets. The guitars rip through every song at maximum tempo, only outdone by the uncompromising blastbeats, and the whole affair is underscored by intense and powerful melody. Fleshgod Apocalypse wear there influences on their sleeve, but then, they're also wearing zombie tuxedos. Which is awesome.

3.5 great | Crowe | August 4th 11 | As well-played as Agony is, and as much as Fleshgod Apocalapse have improved as songwriters, the album itself cannot escape the fact that it is just another hybrid-mutant symphonic death metal circus. So while, yes, your typical cave-lurking Incantation-til-death metalhead will, as predicted, hate Agony, those that can stomach it will find a lot to love here. Instrumentally, the guitars and especially the drumming of Paoli are all top-notch, and while the symphonics are a wank-fest for Dimmu fans everywhere, the songwriting behind them and their fit into the music's flow is impressive. You won't do better, as far as symphonic death metal goes, then Agony, or The Great Mass too for that matter, but for its strengths, Agony easily gives the latter a run for its money. The Italians deserve a hand here - a job well done.
