5.0 classic | Wizard | October 23rd 11 | Best death metal and album of 2011. It's not like it had much competition anyways.

4.5 superb | Inveigh | October 26th 11 | it takes a few listens but holy fuck is this good. it's difficult to describe the sound because there's a clusterfuck of influences inside the atmospheric death metal but this is possibly the metal album of the year...

4.0 excellent | Blud Vidal | May 4th 20 | Despite having listened to this the whole way through at least half a dozen times, I always expect TSoAF to be a crush-fest befitting of a group sput tags as dm/industrial. Then as T1 rumbles into T2 and Flourishing's unique take on TDM betrays its prog, doom, and punk influences, I marvel at the unassuming depth of sound on this record. It's this blend of genres that makes TSoAF such a rewarding listen, and one that makes the Ulcerate comparisons seem a tad forced. Flourishing have their own sound and they execute it cleverly here. Or, if you prefer, just listen to Fossil Records instead of reading my pointless soundoff.

3.8 excellent | Erwann S. STAFF | July 1st 19 | As Bedex pointed out, it's a very interesting take on the tech death genre. At first, I was expecting a Ulcerate/Gorguts copycat, but I was taken by some moments totally reminiscent of other genres (skramz in track 3, the closer which feels like doom). Not as creative or head-crushing as other colossi of the genre can be, but still alluring as hell can ever be.

4.5 superb | Chino smoking it up! | March 12th 19 | OMFG as if Cult Leader or Gaza meets Ulcerate. Avangardish tech DM full of punk and sludge reminiscences. A real must check for lovers of extreme metal. Too bad this is one album and nothing more. Recd tracks - by which we're cemented; momentary senses; fossil Record; as if bathed in excellence.

4.0 excellent | Bedex | February 12th 19 | Begins as a death metal album but progressively mixes a tonne of influences along the way, which makes it a very interesting piece of music that blurs the boundaries of the genre. Edit: yea this really cool. There isn't a single song that doesn't feature either really cool ideas with various influences mixed in, or just straight up fat riffage for days. But there is also hardly any song that doesn't have less interesting sections. If you condensed all the ideas in this into a 20 min EP it'd be an easy 4.5+, but there are just mokay sections intertwined with all the good stuff. The first half to 4 opposed to the amazing second half is a clear example, but it's true of almost all of the record. 5 is another example, with a skippable intro, a great entry right after that, then meh unfolding, then back into cool riffs again - a seemingly endless alternation. 1 evokes if TDEP did death metal, and 3 is particularly bonkers. The raw vocals are fantastic but some cleaner sections eg on 6 begged for variety. 7 starts nice and punkish, and 8 is a creat ominous, riffy ending track that sadly has a pretty blander conclusion than the album deserved. Great ideas, but a potential not quite fully realised. 3.85

3.0 good | Sevhead | January 6th 12 | the subdued production really gives these dudes a unique sound, and the songwriting really shines when they're feeling either droney or sludgy.
