Overrated and boring. Paul Simon incorporates Latin and African influences to create an album that doesn't stand out at all. World music is inherently inferior.

Looking at my music taste, this sticks out like a sore thumb. But it's completely amazing. It's catchy, but doesn't get boring, and it's really creative music. Love love love it.

Did the term "world music" existed in 1986? 'Cause this record right here would sure be called like that if it came out now. What it really is is a blend of Simon's folk and South Africa Zulu genre mbaquanga, with that iconic 80s production - loud drums, catchy bassline and bombastic synths. A true fusion album, its aesthetic however fail to truly make me go "wow". It's pleasant and I got nuthang but respek for Simon's way to bring African music to the USA, but it's not exactly my thang.

A smooth blend of African and American roots music, with neither too overstated. Although I don't find any of it truly great, Simon never sounds like he's missing the mark. Best tracks 'Homeless', 'Graceland', 'The Boy in the Bubble'.

I remember, when as a kid one day I was travelling through Scotland with my dad and my brother, and the driver had this strange but wonderfull music playing. I asked my dad what it was and he asked the driver: Paul Simon's Graceland he said. He said he'd been playing it for weeks and weeks and loved it. When I came home I got it, started listening to it and have been in love with it ever since. It's such a beautifull, happy, uplifting album. And allthough the songs seem simple they are not. They grab you with their hooks, rhythms, sounds and noises in the background and those great lyrics. This is an album to listen to and to charise for life. At least I will.
