There's just no questioning it: Death of a Dead Day - pardon the redundancy in this album title - is a fucking godsend! Packed with insane guitar leads, some crazy tempo shifts, and a killer vocal performance from Mikee Goodman (to name a few), SikTh is one group you should never EVER overlook.

SikTh was always a band filled to the brim with ideas, and their gifted skill in instrumentation and vocalization gave them the ability to express those ideas with uncanny professionalism. Death Of A Dead Day is in every way their magnum opus. That the band eschews the inconsistency of their debut and hones every last bit of their songwriting talent is awesome enough, but there aren't any moments here one would call "annoying" either. Thus, the album is their debut stripped of all fat; it's shorter, tighter, more mature, and retains those quirky nuances that made it so unique to begin with. There isn't a song here that is skippable, and though there's not really a song that stands out from the crowd as being the best of the bunch, the album remains at a consistently high level of quality. The dizzying technicality and vocal acrobatics are better than ever, and the songs feel full without over-stuffing them. If there were any way for them to go out, this was the way. Guess when they finally do quit they'll have to release something even better (a man can dream).

So I know nothing is really "original" anymore, but this album comes as close to being original as possible. It is SO much more than what I expected, from the crazy technical math metal aspects of it, to just the sheer shredding and artistry that goes into every song. Not to mention the ballads which are fucking CACHY, and the vocals which are so well done to compliment everything else. Definitely worth buying, no doubt about it.

If you happen to look up any of these words in Webster's dictionary, don't be surprised to find a picture of the album cover of Sikth's "Death of a Dead Day" next to the word itself. Best mathcore album I've ever heard. Best tech metal next to Botch and Dillinger.

Absolutely love this album, some say that the vocals are a bit of a hurdle but i think they fit perfectly with the mathy vibe of the guitars. Really cool some of the vibrato in the vocals, really adds another element to the compositions
