What an ugly piece of shit album this is. For sure one of the best relases within modern deathgrind. I have never been a huge fan of Cattle Decapitation and I probably never will but this is where it's at. Disgusting and very artsy at the same time. Aborted finally has a worthy opponent.

While quite a bit of their back-discography is bogged down by bland, aimless aggression, Monolith of Inhumanity sees CD spreading out their influences, and trying out more unusual concepts (at least for them). The clean vocals are extremely well done, and the songs play out in interesting ways most of the time. A surprising release, to be sure, and a contender for best death metal release thus far this year.

Seen on RYM : "holy shit is that a drummer or a shotgun". I'm usually not a big fan of deathgrind, but this one slaps, and some slower tracks work especially well (eg "Lifestalker", "Kingdom of Tyrants").

Sometimes the change cames for a good reason. The early Grindcore stuff is repetitive and a little generic. They missed the point in Karma.Bloody.Karma and started to deliver a great production in The Harvest Floor. Monolith is a achievement to all the process started in 1999.

Travis Ryan is actually a bit of an underrated frontman within the scene. That said, Monolith of Inhumanity shows these impudent heaps of Vegans no longer in much of a desultory fashion, as Cattle Decapitation set their sights on creating the band's most anarchic release to date. It certainly says someting when both halves of this record have their strengths, especially the second wave of tracks, which do a great job at digging up some unfamiliar experimentation out of the ground.

For Cattle Decapitation's newest album, this is definitely their best. It maintains the heavy, aggressive, and fast sound that they are known for, but also has a little bit more of a melodic touch to it on some songs.
