Might be my favorite song by them

It's like a more elegant/grown-up January Hymn, and that song is already nearly perfect

I refuse to believe this album is 7 years old.

I remember writing this review at like 1am while at work because I used to pull twelve hour night shifts. Definitely doesn't feel that old to me either.

This could have been as good or possibly even better than The King Is Dead, but unfortunately the final third of the tracklist sort of falls off a cliff. But the opener through Carolina Low is astonishingly beautiful

This has grown on me hard in the last few years, definitely my second-favorite Decemberists at this point (although it doesn't touch The King Is Dead). Gonna give this a spin now, nice bumps!

I get the feeling I should check out The King Is Dead.

Never got beyond this and Hazards and Crane Wife.

Yeah definitely get on The King is Dead. It's their best work.

If you dig this, you'll probably like it, very much "sing-along Americana version" of the band

I'm still a huge fan of their most theatrical hyperliterate material, but you can't deny the superb songwriting of this and King.

The run from tracks 1 to 8 is reaaally good and worthy of their best albums. I love that there's a lot of piano

Mistral has always been a favorite of mine

New album made me revisit this one for the first time in years and I am so happy with how well it has stood the test of time. Lots of strange nostalgia for this one from listening to it on my 40 min commute to work during a college summer.

It is one of the Decemberists albums I'm most attached to for sure. The nostalgia is strong

Can't believe 2015 was almost ten years ago
