this one i've found a bit underrated! very similar to cryptic writings but with a bit of countdown in there on the heavier ones. i actually like the blend here the most between mainstream catchiness and thrash. besides youthanasia which really is the perfect mix for me. i see at as a bridge but it's a fairly natural transition to their later albums after this which seem more outward thrash.
dread and the fugitive mind is my fav here for sure, one of their best. is it criminal to think it's just a way better and less corny version of sweating bullets? there are some great fucking solos on here. also love 1000 times goodbye (as corny as it is), disconnect, return to hangar. promises is also just a great ballad that dave actually kills it on. such a good hook.
another solid album, definitely spotty but i will come back to the hits here for a while. i don't really get the hate here.

I like "recipe for hate...warhorse" and the t/t, I used to really like "when" too but that one is just a cornier remake of "am I evil" more or less note for note. I dont remember single other song on this, besides how fucking abysmal "motopyscho" is.

just gave it a read, good stuff! i agree mostly. highs are so high on this one. an interesting mix of thrash/radio rock but think cryptic writings pulled it off a bit better. really liking that one even more in hindsight going through the discog. maybe dave at his vocal peak.
