They fell in The Cure trap on Untouchables, tried too many melodic Depeche Mode touches - didn’t really work
This is coming from someone who’d have said Korn were their favourite band back in ‘96

And they stopped being fun. First 3 albums were fun. Not always good, but at least fun. Jonathan Davis started taking himself too seriously.

Yeah, that more melodic vocals thing was definitely led by JD you’d think
‘Seed’ is a bit of a jam now being a new parent, first time I listened to it after becoming a dad :/

Still think ‘Need To’ from the debut is their best by a little distance
‘Good God’ from ‘Peachy’ is up there too

I can get behind that; damn good track (Need To, that is)

‘Need To’ just seems the perfect Korn track, all time classic intro but it keeps the intensity throughout
Get the feeling Slipknot spent a whole career of trying to have the same sort of impact as that tune but never came close whatever they tried

On Life is Peachy, I'd probably take A.D.I.D.A.S.; I know its a juvenile song, but that depravity angle is really what they (Korn) were all about, to some degree; I think that song captures it well. Good God, No Place to Hide, and Kill You are pretty good too.

Yeah, again about five or six great songs and then a bit of a drop off

Seems to be the case on the first 6 records or so (to me, anyway); with the weak stretches becoming larger on the albums that follow

Issues/Untouchables > FTL [3]
As much as I love this album (hence the rating), it sits significantly below Issues for me, and a little lower than Untouchables.
Issues & their debut are the stand-out classics. LiP, FTL & Untouchables all sit just below and generally rotate in preference over the years.

Eminem is in the “Got The Life” music video.
So is Jay Gordon, the singer of Orgy.

(korn >) issues > peachy or ftl > untouch (whooops, untouchables is still solid korn tho)
iirc orgy got put on the family values 98 tour cuz the guitarist/cofounder(not jay) was in jonathans pre-korn band 'Sexart"(blegh). Likewise the original adema vocalist was JDs lil bro or someshit. that family values 98 vhs is a fuckin gem tho
|
| |
adema might be one of the worst bands ever though

(link ofc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ytr834YJ214 )
there was also some tour that got cancelled cuz corona but it was supposed to be like static x, powerman 5000, adema, orgy, and saliva

ill defend korn any day but some of the tracks on this album are simply indefensible
all in the family is one of the worst things ever recorded.
